FRiends,
As many of you know, The Hobbit Hole has been following the story of Andy, a young Marine that was injured in Fallujah on Thanksgiving Day. You can read about our initial introduction to Andy here...
Ive posted periodic updates from his mother and the Hobbit Hole has sent cards and even sent him a couple of our knives, one especially fine knife with his name engraved on it, as a token of our appreciation.
Andy is doing well, although he had to make the decision not long ago to have his wounded leg removed. Since then, he has really progressed. He still has quite a bit of rehab to go.
If you have the Time Magazine with Bush on the front...the Man of the Year magazine...Andy is in the section where he is getting his Purple Heart from President Bush. He is shaking the presidents hand. You can see Andy, but all you can see of Bush is his hand and forearm.
At this current time, his parents are staying at the Navy Lodge and I asked them if there was anything we could do for them. They had only one request and I thought I would pass it on to the animal lovers of this forum.
They need help with the cost of boarding both Andys dog Gus, and their own animals during the time they are staying with Andy. The animals are being boarded at:
Fur Family Members Pet Care
2110 Strickland Bridge Rd
Fayetteville, NC 28304
910-426-3400
If you can help with this, even if just a little, please send a check to this business, designated Hatcher Boarding Costs. The Hatchers have asked for nothing except this one thing and they didnt even ask for this until I asked them.
Thanks for any help you can give...

Thanks Patty! I couldn't ask for a better endorsement.
Sending cookies when I was a child to "any soldier" was a lot different from the high-security Kosovo project and I learned a lot from patriciaruth that I've been able to use and pass on to others over the last few years.
I'm so pleased to be able to help this family.
This is great news. Can't wait to see the updated website. You all have done a great job bringing this to our attention and I think you're right about any overage.
Ahem...
The page has been updated...
As of today's update, the bill is paid in full! - In fact, a little over! Thank you so much for contributing to this cause and relieving the family of this one expense. They have other expenses to prepare for like traveling back and forth to visit Andy, and preparing their home for Andy's homecoming. We do hope you don't mind that the extra will be sent to the Hatchers to use as they need.
Updated website: On behalf of Gus and Bandit Hatcher
FReepers, you are all the greatest!
I guess hitting refresh would have helped, sorry about that. Great news anyway.
I'm so tickled. Thank you FReepers SO MUCH!
Moderator, could you add THANK YOU! to the title? Our goal of paying off this monstrous kennel bill for this injured Marine was accomplished.
Good news.
Good idea. If they don't answer that, do a 'report abuse' and make the request there. Sign your name to it. They see those more often than mere pings.
OK..that sounds good. I'll do it.
Very good news!
BUMP!!!!!
Thank you all so much!
Ping!
Ping!
Ping!!
Ping!
Isn't it great, my FRiend?? I'm just so happy for the family...just giving them one less thing to have to concern themselves with is what makes it so nice...
Grateful Bump!
Ok now I get it.
;-)
Hubby waiting for Daytona too? Does he check in on our Nascar threads here every week during the season?
Such good news on the dogs, I love it!! And it sounds like we have a new FReeper in Lisa!! Woo Hoo
Great news!!
What a great bunch of FReepers.
That's what working together can do!!
I'm willing to bet there will be a nice amount over the bill to go to the Hatchers, I don't see my name on there yet, so more to come.
