Republicans are for the Rich?

Posted on 01/04/2005 5:00:55 PM PST by LauraleeBraswell

Has anyone else noticed that the Leftists have backed off with that inane notion that the “Republicans are for the rich?” Now it’s “Republicans are for the stupid.” The myth that the Republican Party stands for the interests of an elitist upper class was finally expelled this past election when the states at the lower end of the economics spectrum went Republican. But of course we are damned even if we don’t. Today a fellow told me that, “The states that voted for Bush were also polled to be the states with the lowest IQs.” And I would just as soon have discarded it among the other improvable “un-facts” that people tend to drop here and there if it wasn’t such a widespread (and I think lasting) sentiment here in the Blue. The Republican Party is now the party of the “Ignorant Tractor Riding redneck Hicks.” That rationale being, that if you are poor you must be stupid. How a party could take a complete 180 degree turn around from the “The Party of Rich ” to “The Party of the Ignorant” in just two months after an election is mind boggling not to mention damn near impossible. Back in their heyday when the Democrats could count on carrying the Southern vote they were the party of “the common man.” Now the common man just isn’t intelligent enough to know how to vote. Why am I not surprised?

I think the butterfly ballot was a kind of IQ test.

And we aren't the geniuses who thought veterans would come out big to support Kerry.

I'm still seeing & hearing "if you see someone in a cadillac or lincoln, it is probably a republican".

The right needs to hammer home the lawyer-judge-tyrannical leftist millionaire link constantly!

Today a fellow DEMOC told me that, "The states that voted for Bush were also polled to be the states with the lowest IQs."

Yep! Keep Talking DEMOCs. That's the way to win back the South.

It's going to be a looooooonnnnnnng time before you win an election.

This working and family man found out long ago that the party who sticks up for me is the "R." I used to be a "D" until I developed the lucidity of thinking that comes with time and experience.

As a consultant, I work with finance companies, engineers and management at several companies. 80% of those who have opened up to me on poltics are Republicans. The other 20% are either Asian immigrants, Jews, or women.

In other words, Republicans are far from stupid. The Dem consituency in a nutshell run the gamut from trial lawyers, Hollywood/"creative types", and college professors (high IQs), to the underclass (low IQs) to government employees (no comment).

Your observation is on target. Post-election polls show Kerry won a majority of the 260 richest counties and Bush almost swept the 60 poorest. Thus, the left-wing talking points must change. My liberal friend echoed them when she told me that FoxNews was the "stupid person's" news. Interestingly enough, Democrats always win big amongst voters without a high-school degree (The exit polling agency in 2004 refused to ask that question specifically because it made Democrats and Gore look so bad in 2000). I look forward to this shift. Americans are not anti-intellectual but they are anti-elitist. They know that the common sense of the people beats the ivory tower theorizing of the so-called "urban sophisticates". So I believe this bodes well for the GOP.

IIRC - and please correct me if I'm wrong - Kerry received his highest percentage of votes in DC which, as everyone knows, has very high average IQ, right?

Yes, it's true and this is why the large expensive over priced metropolitan areas voted primarily for Kerry... The fact are undeniable rich farmers and rural citizens from the bible belt are the evil behind the Republicans.

My Republican buddy's tractors are state of the art John Deeres and cost a truckload of cash. We may be hicks and we may be rednecks, but we got GREAT tractors to work with and we SURELY voted for GWB!!!

I saw a commercial where Al Franken said that all Republicans have yachts.

Now if that were true, then where's my yacht? When was someone going to tell me that as a Republican I am entitled to a yacht?

It used to be "Republicans are evil." Now it is "Republicans are stupid." I think that's an improvement. I would rather be thought of as being an idiot than a monster. If I am thought of as a demon, people will fight me. But if I am thought of as an invalid, then I am free to keep doing what I have been doing without a lot of opposition.

It used to be "Republicans are evil."

Ann Coulter once joked that we were the "dark side."
