Newspaper sale$ decline should be blamed on the Journos - (Love this one!)
JEWISH WORLD REVIEW.COM ^ | JANUARY 4, 2005 | JACK KELLY

The best editor in America today isn't a journalist. He's Glenn Harlan Reynolds, a law professor at the University of Tennessee, also known as the "Instapundit." He's endangering my livelihood.

I used to say that I was in a declining industry, but fortunately, I was declining faster than it was. Now I'm not so sure.

Journalists tend not to like bloggers, because they report on errors we make. Dan Rather and former New York Times editor Howell Raines are unemployed chiefly because of the vigilance and tenacity of bloggers. (We journalists rarely turn the spotlights we use on business leaders and government officials on ourselves.)

People who work at journalism full time ought to be able to do a better job of it than people for whom it is a hobby. But that's not going to happen as long as we "professional" journalists ignore stories we don't like and try to hide our mistakes. We think of ourselves as "gatekeepers." But there is not much future in being a gatekeeper when the walls are down.

Here's my question - when all the journalists are gone where will the bloggers get their information from? While they point out errors and bias, the bloggers still rely on the journalists for the information they write about. Just like FR relies on newspapers and AP for the stories posted here.

There is still a market for some real journalists, the old fashioned kind who give the facts, or when they write opinion or background pieces you are almost taken away by their wordsmithing.

I don't agree with his first sentence here.

Smart people who have real-world jobs and real-world experiences and real-world knowledge probably should be able to give meaningful facts and opinions better than "journalists."

But I totally agree with his second sentence. It's a good statement of a point that's blindingly obvious to everyone.

Go look at www.soundpolitics.com......THAT blogger does RESEARCH and is ripping the local press up with it.....we're in a battle for the sanctity of OUR votes, and the blogger is the one who has exposed the DEMS for what they are......which I won't repeat here...lest I get banned.

I looked at it too.

"The idea of a redo I find to be absolutely ludicrous," Gregoire said. "It's particularly unfortunate we're somehow suggesting these county election officials haven't done their job, when there is absolutely no evidence to support that."

After two recounts the Dem's weren't happy but after the third one with the tide turned she is absolutely satisfied with the counting.
