NYT: Election Results to Be Certified, With Little Fuss From Kerry
NY Times ^ | January 6, 2005 | SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

Posted on 01/05/2005 7:24:32 PM PST by West Coast Conservative

WASHINGTON, Jan. 5 - The day before a joint session of Congress to certify the results of the 2004 presidential election, Senator John Kerry said Wednesday that he would not participate in a possible protest by Democrats who are challenging President Bush's victory in Ohio.

"While I am deeply concerned about the issues being highlighted by my colleagues in Congress and citizens across the country and support their efforts to highlight the need to ensure voting rights," Mr. Kerry said in a statement, "I will not be joining their protest of the Ohio electors."

Senator Kerry, who is traveling in the Middle East, does not plan to be in Washington on Thursday for the formal tally of the Electoral College results, the official constitutional ending to the 2004 presidential race.

Federal law requires both a member of the House and the Senate to object for a formal challenge to be considered. The 2000 race between President Bush and former Vice President Al Gore produced objections in the House, but none in the Senate. On Wednesday, an aide to Senator Barbara Boxer, Democrat of California, said Mrs. Boxer was contemplating raising an objection.

Some House Democrats will almost certainly object. On Wednesday, Representative John Conyers Jr. of Michigan, the senior Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee, issued a report saying there were "ample grounds for challenging the electors from the state of Ohio."

Mr. Kerry said he would draw on the Conyers report to make voting rights one of his "top agenda items" this year.

A formal challenge would not affect the outcome of the election, because both houses of Congress are controlled by Republicans, who promise to certify Mr. Bush as the winner. But it would force lawmakers to abandon the ordinarily polite ritual, which takes place in the House chamber. Instead, the House and Senate would retreat to their own chambers, on opposite sides of the Capitol, for a two-hour debate and a formal vote on the objection.

Such a debate could prove uncomfortable for Democrats, who do not want to be viewed as sore losers. But Republicans seemed eager for it.

"They are really just trying to stir up their loony left," John Feehery, a spokesman for Speaker J. Dennis Hastert, said of the Democrats.

Bush's Election in Series Jeopardy:  Republicans running in fear

January 5, 2005, breaking hard

(Washington DC) - The well lubed Democratic Machine is in full thrust. Millions of voters are set to march in Washington DC tomorrow to protest the certification of electors.  The other shoe has finally dropped and Bush's 2nd Inauguration may not happen.  The brilliant non-partisan Representative John Conyers, Jr., Ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee has released the long-awaited Status Report Preserving Democracy:  What Went Wrong in Ohio.  This report weighing in at over 100 pages threatens to shake up Washington DC and rock the world with rock-solid evidence of how Bush stole Presidency for the second time.

Among the most damaging evidence from the report includes:

-While Republicans sat comfortably in their country club and had voting machines brought to them to cast their votes while eating caviar, Democrats had to fight the bitter cold and rain to go to their own polling place and some even had to wait in line to vote.

-Evil Hitler wannabe Uncle Tom partisan Bush supporter Secretary of State Blackwell actually insisted that voters be registered to vote, similar to tactics used by the Nazi's in the 1930's.

-Exit polling data which has never been wrong in the over 4 billion years the earth existed of roughly 1200 Ohioans did not match the actual vote of over 5.7 million voters.  Non-partisan Berkley statisticians calculated the odds of this happening approaching nearly a google-plex to one, which happens to be the odds of Richard Simons being straight.

-The Bush-controlled corporate monster Triad, who provided Ohio's corrupt voting machines, actually provided information to elections officials to assist them in their recount, thus insuring the recount would match their corrupt results.

-While the honest Democrat challengers randomly selected precincts with a perfect mix of all races and politely challenged voters without any partisan motives, the brown-shirt Bush supporters concentrated their vote challenge efforts in Democratic areas, and used their disruptive bigoted tactics to intimidate mostly in minority areas.

-There were thousands and thousands of intimidated voters who were scared by these Gestapo tactics into not selecting either candidate for President.  These spoiled ballots alone could have given the real winner, the honorable war-hero patriotic Senator John F. Kerry, the election.

These numerous unexplained unprecedented highly-illegal irregularities are sufficient cause for both houses of Congress to reject Ohio's electors, thus giving John F. Kerry the majority of electoral votes cast and thus making him the President-elect.  Disregarding theses illegal Ohio electors, and ignoring the apparent vote of 5.7 million people is the only way to restore our Democracy and rebuild the lost confidence that everyone has with our corrupt voting process.  January 6, 2005 is set to be a historic day for America, perhaps even surpassing July 4, 1776.  Yes, help is on its way!

***Mr. Kerry said he would draw on the Conyers report to make voting rights one of his "top agenda items" this year.***

Kerry has agenda items, 19 years in the Senate and this must be a first. If Kerry needs an agenda Item he should try getting one from someone brighter than Conyers.

Funny! That's not from Scrappleface, is it?

I particularly liked the part about country-club republicans having the voting machines brought to them, and the poor demmies having to stand in line! Now THAT'S the way the voting system ought to be!

Its from me. I posted it earlier today here. One of my favorite line was about Richard Simons, but no one commented on that. I am glad you liked it.

Hey, that's great! FReepers have the best sense of humor of anybody in the blogosphere.

I especially liked the line about Richard Simmons.

What color Kool-aide will DU be serving?

Well dressed Du'ers will want to know, the vomit and the foam will stain clothing and it really shouldn't clash with what they are wearing.

I suggest lemon yellow and they should all wear beige.

Yeah, they probably would. No matter how ridiculous I think it may sound, most of them would look at it and not see anything wrong with it.

Reported 1 hour and 45 minutes ago. A quick skim of DU shows no threads on the topic.

What about New York's electors voting for John L. Kerry? Too bad a lawyer is not insisting that John F. Kerry not get those votes.

Always good for a laugh, as long as I shower afterwards.

Unfortunately the moonbats don't grasp the concept of occam's razor, although the latest conspiracy theory that involves Bush-Cheney 2004, Ken Blackwell, Gov Taft, all republican and democratic members of every Ohio county's BoE, local, state, and federal law enforcement, Triad, Diebold, Sequoia, the MSM (*boggle*), 5 chimpanzees, and an inanimate ball of clay does make me chuckle a bit out of glee that they can't grasp such a simple concept. Although I do fear that they might posess a driver's license or be allowed to operate heavy machinery.

Or it could just be that the exit polls had a bad sample, seeing how they aren't random. Stupid hippies.
