MSNBC Reports: Up to 6 other Sentors may join Barbara Boxer in contesting the election.

Posted on 01/06/2005 7:20:07 AM PST by Next_Time_NJ

MSNBC is now reporting that up to 6 other senators (1 possible republican) will give statements of support for contesting the election. There were no names given. Barbara Boxer is confirmed to be the only senator on record to say she is now going to contest the election along with Conyers and a few others from congress.

The report went on to say that the debate (if all 6 come on board) will only be about 30 minutes, due to the 5 minute rule per senator. The report also said that Bush's victory his not in jepordy.

I still think the media may eat crow on this but anyone have any thoughts?

Today's dog-and-pony show will have two positive effects:
1)It will allow the Administration to, later on, subsume the issue of voting security into a Republican package of corrective and strengthening measures, and...
2)It will permit the Republican majority in the US Senate to more readily use the "nuclear option" to remove the filibuster from blockading the President's judicial nominees from reaching a floor vote.

The highly partisan Dem action today, which admittedly, even by the Dem participants themselves will have no effect on election 2004, will provide a goodly amount of political balance for future actions which would otherwise have been cast as Republican partisanship, in the public's eye...

"Skeletons" aren't exposed in a 5 minute speech.

If they had an actual "skeleton" they'd have gone to the media with it.

CBS had no problem airing forgeries without checking them out...I'm sure Olberman would have aired any evidence or "skeleton" they had, and if they were real and provable the whole world would know.

There is no real evidence...otherwise, Kerry's lawyers would have taken it to court.

There is nothing to be ready for...25 minutes of grandstanding and nothing will change.

It is Chaffee from RI -- remember he refused to support President Bush in the election and said he would cast his vote for Bush #41.

There are no skeletons, this is MSNBC showing their true colors. What a ridiculous network. Liberal to the max. What a joke, the whole thing is probably the brain-child of Olberman... another joke himself...

Fundraising.

I think you're right--this is all about milking the Angry Left. MovOn et.al. showed that there's a lot - A LOT - of money to be made by stirring up the lefty hornet's nest. A few dems have realized that it's every watermelon for him/herself these days, damn the party.

Why is it that four years ago the dems were upset about voter problems in Florida, but now don't care about anywhere but Ohio? Did the "problems" that existed in Florida magically go away? Was there no one else in the entire country disenfranchised? If that is the case, as must be by their concern over Ohio only, doesn't that make our system nearly perfect? I think it rather transparent that they are only concerned about the areas that put Bush over the top, and can't believe that any of the democrats fall for this crap. Why aren't they concerned with voter irregularity in areas where Kerry only won by a tiny margin? Their stupidity and willingness to behave like spoiled children never ceases to amaze me. Do democrats EVER get anything done, or do they just whine and complain for a living? Hey Al Gore, thanks a lot!

This what happens when a GOP controlled Senate allows a traitor in their midst.

And main stream RIGHT wing media remain silent.

Kerry was an illegal candidate
and is an illegal US Senator per
US Constitution 14th Amendment Section 3

That there is no evidence of voter fraud is proof that the Pubbies have both tampered with the vote and covered up their crimes.

What is the point of this? I'm being serious, no kidding.

Beats me. Of course, they do want to irritate Bush as much as possible, and if they can suggest that the election wasn't clean, so much the better. But it strikes me as a dangerous game for Dems to play: if they really do stir up a demand for clean elections (e.g., proof of residence to register, picture ID to vote, carefully regulated absentee ballots, etc.), they'll be the losers -- literally, in election after election. Unless, of course, like the preternaturally innocent DUers, they really think the bulk of election fraud is on the Repub side.

I'm with you. I honestly don't know why this isn't the stupidest idea since "New" Coke.

And that Barbara Boxer supports it -- as if that isn't damning enough!

This won't hurt Boxer at all. It will HELP her with fund-raising.

She just got reelected and has actually had protesters outside her office demanding she contest the vote.

Boxer is the same candidate that floated outright lies about her opponent being a "porn nut" 1 week before the election in her only close race. When this was proven false she "fired" her campaign manager.[I believe to only hire him back again later]

I have detested her ever since. However she is unbeatable in this loony State.
