Kid Rock at Inaugural 'Shocking'
NewsMax.com ^ | Jan. 6, 2005 | Carl Limbacher

A scheduled appearance by vulgar rock-rapper Kid Rock at a Bush inauguration concert hosted by Bush daughters Jenna and Barbara has shocked conservative supporters.

The rapper’s lyrics often focus on the recreational nature of sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation. In 2000 he appeared in a porn film with well-known porn stars, and he was named the Sluttiest Male Celebrity by MTV.

According to Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association, the White House has sent a shocking statement to the millions of families who supported his re-election.

"Kid Rock is an inexcusable choice,” Wildmon said. "His music lyrics serve to teach our young men to disrespect women in a most vile, self serving manner. There's no compassionate conservatism in that philosophy.”

"Obviously, someone on the Presidential Inauguration Committee has made an extremely poor judgment call. The Committee should cancel this invitation immediately,” Wildmon said.

Kid rock was chosen to appear because he was a supporter of President Bush's re-election campaign.

According to the Newsweek article, the Captain gave my college buddy Commander Chris Peterschmidt (MU '87) a direct order to pull the plug on the song but it somehow kept on playing. :-)

I'm sure the charming Yemeni Muslims were *thrilled* to hear that song (one of my favorites).

It's not.
Some extremist bible thumping types, love to be 'righteously indignant' over any thing THEY consider sin, believing that the republican party is their new 'religious denomination'.

pretty funny to see them soak their shorts over somebody else's freedom.

A inaugaral concert reflects the office of the presidency....

"Didn't give you the rest of the info on the 'Whisky-a-Go-Go' "gals" Inaugural Show. They're NOT."

If you're wearing beer goggles, you might not notice the difference.

There ya go. It won't hurt anyone.

Impressive. Thought of that one all by yourself?

Try shoving it up sideways.

By the way that was a nice dodge.

So I guess you support Babs and Micheal Moore more, because they don't wear the flag as a poncho.

But someone like Kid Rock who supports the men and women that defend our country and stands proud as an unapologetic American, that just so happens to not be versed enough in Flag etiquette is "dirty scoundrel"...

Ohhhhhhh can you feel the reason coming from this thread....

No, but feeling the difference might cause some consternation.

I think you're a disruptor, trying to get mileage from embarrassing the president. You like things going up sideways, don'tcha?

Well, the Bush girls aren't saints, but they're not the reckless dingbats some like to paint them as, either. As to church, I've seen pictures of them over the years attending services with their parents. I'm not saying they attend weekly but you made a comment that you weren't sure if they EVER went to church as if they'd never stepped foot in one.

As to deciding what they want to do, Jenna is going to teach and Barbara is going to work in Africa, neither categorizes as "party girl" or "glamorous.

Must feel good to finally get noticed, eh? I guess it's ALL worth it when I see a compelling post like this:

"So I guess you support Babs and Micheal Moore more, because they don't wear the flag as a poncho."

That's what's called a "double-med" post.

I have only read the first few replies but it sounds like there are a lot of people who think it perfectly acceptable to have scum performing at an inaugural event.

The Bush daughters are cute but I have seen enough of them to suspect they are spoiled rotten.

I think the evangelical wing of this party needs to get a grip.

That is your statement. You take a few people claiming to speak for the majority and proceed to lecture the "evangelical wing" as a whole. YOU brought me into this discussion when you did that.

Think as you will about evangelicals, but when you generalize to heap blame on an entire community based on the remarks of one man expect offended rebuttal.

Jenna & Barbara are perfectly normal, immature 22 yo gals. Cut them some slack. If they like Kid Rock, so be it. I'd prefer to see ZZ Top, and these guys can be 10 times as vulgar as the Kid.

"Yep. There are plenty of wholesome rock bands out there to pick from instead. But I suspect this was a decision made by someone more interested in star value and publicity than wholesomeness."

A "wholesome" rock band isn't really a rock band.

Don't be such a prude, and for God's sake, don't take it so seriously. It's a 15-minute wonder.

I like Kid Rock, and I voted for Bush, too. You squares don't OWN him, you know!
