You would think "Republicans" would have learned this lesson as well. It's laughable that some of these people with Presidential aspirations wish to be in the most powerful elected position, and yet are too stupid to comprehend bashing the President isn't the way to get there.

Send Jan "Lutefisk" Egeland back to Norway. My approval has gone down, because this guy is still here to insult us and enjoying all the perks of being a UN thief in NYC. Kick him OUT.

BREAKING . . . We no longer need to concern ourselves with these bogus polls -- PRESIDENT BUSH WAS RE-ELECTED WITH A RECORD SETTING 62,000,000 VOTES AND THE FIRST MAJORITY SINCE 1988 (to include a majority of votes in 81% of ALL counties in the US)!!

FLASH . . . The country has moved from a 50:50 split in 2000 to a 52(R):47(D/I) split in 2004! [If we eliminate Democrat voter fraud from the numbers, the President garners a 5-pt margin of victory vs the 3-pt 'official' margin!]

THE PRESIDENT HAS HIS SECOND TERM . . . HE IS FREE OF THE CONSTRAINTS IMPOSED BY THE SPECTER OF RE-ELECTION . . . HE IS FREE TO LEAD, AND THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HE WILL DO!!

THE FOLLOWING IS DVWJR'S ANALYSIS OF THE BOGUS AP POLL:

Well, we just had an election where we have data from 13,660 respondents in the 2004 Presidential election poll. Let's forget that 'bad' exit poll results used for election night predictions that the MSM used and use the data the way it was supposed to be used, the characterize the voters...

2004 Exit Poll Vote by Party ID:

37% Republican
37% Democrat
26% Independent

Source: CNN: US President/National/Exit Poll data for November 2nd, 2004.

Ok, so what was the party affiliation breakdown for the 1,001 Adults, (836 Registered voters) for the Ipsos-Public Affairs AP Poll dated January 3-5, 2005. The poll has a margin of error of 3.1% for all Adults and 3.4% for Registered voters. Now the poll sample for Registered voters was:

AP/Ipsos Project #81-5139-09

43% Republican
49% Democrat
08% Independent

Source: Associated Press/Ipsos-Public Affairs - Project #81-5139-09 January 3-5, 2005.

That party affiliation breakdown used by AP/Ipsos does not seem to match the latest characterization of the American Voting public according to the Exit Poll data collected from 13,660 voters on November 2nd, 2005. In fact, it looks as if the AP/Ipsos poll is a bit slanted shall we say in favor of the Democrats. Gee, what happened to all the Independents? Did they just disappear for the next four years???

Furthermore, to help get the 49% to 49% approval/disapproval for President Bush, the AP/Ipsos poll chose this poll to sample "all Adults" instead of the "Registered Voters" who have been answering this question since February, 2004. What are the odds of that happening?

The MSM never stops trying...

The sad fact is that he is fundamentally disliked by a LOT of people, and his response (or lack thereof) to the tsunami won't even show up as noise in the poll numbers.

Sounds like your sad OPINION. The FACTS are that he was elected by 52% of the people, and is liked by even some who didn't vote for him.

I DO NOT approve of his job performance when it came to throwing $350 million of our money down the Tsunami shakedown rathole. Disgusting.

Great analysis DrDeb. Why do we even bother to read these polls? They just make up the story they want and alter the data to fit the story.

Press complained about the Prez' non-speechifying because the White House press corps was mad they didn't get face time. They want a drama---the Prez wants action. Thus the disconnect.

Well he shouldn't dehumanize the tragedy, boil it down to dollars, and call it a shakedown.

If it moved you, and you naively think that money sent over to be administered by Muslim governments and the U.N. will actually help the victims and not mainly wealthy tourist interests, then do as Bush says and pony up. But he has no business sending $350 million in taxpayer money down that same rathole.

As long as you're picking and choosing pollsters, best toss out Mitofsky as well, and be glad this isn't the Ukraine.

It really sucks to be a democrat these days doesn't it? Enjoy your stay.

A correction to my earlier comment now that I've located the transcript. It was Sec. Powell himself who was the first person that the Foreign Minister of Thailand heard from. Sec. Powell called all the Foreign Ministers in the region right away. Here is an excerpt from the transcript of the January 4 Interview With Chairat Thomya of Thailand’s Independent Television (ITV) [emphasis added]
QUESTION: The U.S. government was criticized in the way they responded to this disaster. Some were saying it was too slow and the first budget was too little. What do you think about it?

SECRETARY POWELL: Well, who criticized us? It wasn’t the countries in the region. As the Foreign Minister of Thailand said, my good friend, said on television a little while ago, the first phone call he received from anyone was from me. And what I said to him is, “let me know what you need and you can count on the United States.” And within hours, United States planes were arriving.
...
So I just don’t accept the criticism that some in the media have given to the United States that we were slow. I called all the ministers right away. The President spoke to heads of governments and states within 48 hours and we have put our military on the ground, our ships are in the region, we have increased significantly our financial contribution. And, of those that would like to criticize the United States, it is not the countries who are receiving the benefits of our assistance. They are very pleased to receive our assistance and they have been very complimentary of what we have done with them.

The clip Rush played of the reporter's whine about no press release came from another interview that I cannot locate right away. I would remind readers of the phrase "For the Commander" of which Gen. Powell is well aware. In a well functioning management team, each member has their area of responsibility and it doesn't require the CEO to do everything himself in order to have it accomplished. With a glory-hoarding and megalomaniac style (self-aggrandizing as JennysCool would say), you get the news clips but not the effectiveness.
