TEHRAN, Jan. 9 (MNA) – Managing Director of Pars Oil and Gas Co. (POGC), Akbar Torkan, said that the American Halliburton Company will surely win the tender for development of South Pars phases 9 and 10. Halliburton is the first American company ever participated in Iran’s oil and gas sector since the 1979’s Islamic Revolution.

At present, Halliburton and Oriental are the two winners that have reached to final stage of the tender, he added.

Torkan said that the refineries of the two phases will be constructed by five subcontractors in different sections of earthmoving operations, land preparation, building construction, concrete works, steel skeleton, pipe-laying and wiring, installation of equipment and mechanical parts, preparation of the refinery environ, and the construction of reservoirs. “The construction of the refineries will last for 29 months.”

The development of the two phases will take 52 months in total. Some 58 percent of the project is sponsored by Iranian contractor and the rest by foreign side.

The contract of the project was signed between the National Iranian Oil Company, LG Consortium, OIEC, and IOEC and the main contractor is POGC.

It is estimated that the total output of the phases will stand around 50 million cubic meters refined natural gas per day for local consumption, 80,000 barrels of condensates for export, one million tons of ethane as feed for petrochemical units, 1.05 million tons of LPG for export, and 400 tons of sulfur as byproduct.

Halliburton is currently renovating the oilfields located in southern Iraq under a 1.2 billion dollar contract with the American government.

To get around this they will probably have it handeled by a foreign subsidiary.

One thing for sure: Halliburton will get better treatment from Iranian Terrorists than they'll get from their 'fellow American democrats' and other sundry wackos. Then we complain about companies going off-shore and multinationals, losing american jobs and yatta, yatta, yatta.... Let get real.

This article is very confusing since we still have sanctions on US trade with Iran. The sanctions are renewed on a yearly basis and I have seen nothing that would suggest that they have been allowed to lapse.

Well, maybe y'all might want to have conversations with the legislators in the House and Senate who would not adopt President George W Bush's energy plans a few years ago.

My wife worked for Texaco, Inc. for over thirty years. Most of which were in their Corporate headquarters. Texaco was constantly trying to find subcontractors to bid on projects. Guess what? There are not too many organizations that have the equipment and manpower, and resources of Brown Root, and Haliburton. So... what does one do to pump, refine and deliver product to the consumer?

Too many people in this country do not understand competition, process, delivery, nor marketing.

Everbody is very free with their opinions, it's amazing how very little all these geniuses understand about the massive dynamics of scale in this kind of engineering project. That you can't replace Halliburton with a Ma 'n' Pa Minority Business Grant.

You can, and government has done it. The work just doesn't get done and the money invested is gone.

Wonder why the U.S. media isn't all over this story? There's not a Western news outlet listed at Google.
