Mel Gibson post-award press conference-"Kinship" with Michael Moore

Posted on 01/10/2005 10:33:48 AM PST by bushfamfan

Does anyone have the quotes that Mel Gibson apparently made after receiving his People's Choice Award in saying he felt a "kinship" with Michael Moore and attacking the war in Iraq?

For starters, if he can't see the blatant propaganda in F9/11 he's as blind as a bat. How can you "like" propaganda? It's retarded.

I couldn't care less whether he approves or disapproves of the war in Iraq, but to praise F9/11 is stupidity. I did see the so called documentary and it's total trash. What other "conservatives" are praising F9/11? I don't think many.

"Kinship" may mean that he also is a non-traditional director, taking on non-traditional projects, and that his most recent film did well because of non-standard promotion.

That said, I don't know. Let's chill and wait for the facts before assaulting him.

The thing is I don't buy that he lives his life in a religious way. And he apparently finds Michael Moore and his film to be acceptable. Nevermind Michael Moore saying our troops deserve their deaths because the terrorists in Iraq are the equivilent to our minutemen during the Revolutionary War.

Maybe someone could pull up some old Passion threads and look to see just WHO was on those threads blasting Mel. Compare those names to those blasting him in this thread.

That is how I read it too. Remember, Gibson's primary passion is filmmaking, and he very well may see similarities with a fellow filmmaker. People need to take a deep breath.

It might have something to do with the fact that Mel's Icon Productions backed out of the original deal to fund F9/11? Or could be the kinship thing was referring to their both having difficulties in funding and distribution? Who knows?

I posted this because on another thread I read of someone who was listening to a radio show this morning and was disappointed in Mel's comments in regards to Fahrenheit 9/11, Michael Moore and his trashing the war in Iraq. I have known that he has basically been against the war, but his praise of that propaganda and Moore has gone to far and Gibson is on my boycott list now. He is no friend when he is that far out of it.

That's weird. First time I went in it showed the article, now it's asking for a userid password. Here is the article from Google's cache :

Actor Mel Gibson has become the latest in a line of celebrities to question the war in Iraq.

The usually-conservative movie star-director said he had been having "doubts" about President George W Bush.

"It's all to do with these weapons (of mass destruction) that we can't seem to find, and why did we go over there?" he asked.

Usually a Bush supporter, Gibson said a lot of what the president had done during his term in office had been "good".

But he said in the WABC radio interview that he had been "having my doubts of late".

Gibson is riding a new wave of fame at the moment with the massive success of his film, The Passion of the Christ.

Despite some controversy and claims of anti-Semitism the story of Christ's crucifixion has taken $US250 million at the box office.

The film opens in the UK on March 26.

Other Hollywood stars have spoken out against the war including Dustin Hoffman, Sean Penn, Martin Scorsese, Danny Glover and Martin Sheen.

Meanwhile, Gibson said in the interview that he planned another religious film.

He wants to tell the story of a Jewish rebellion nearly 200 years before the birth of Christ, which led to the festival of Chanukah.

By making that film Gibson might answer his critics who have branded The Passion as anti-Semitic.

LOL, go ahead and pull those threads and you'll find I was praising him. There is no excuse for Mel's apparent embrace of Michael Moore.

I agree. I consider all Hollywood celebrities to be crazy. They live in a make believe, delusional world, and have difficulty with reality. Only a few (Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne come to mind) have been able to sucessfully separate make believe from reality.

Fifty posts, and you still don't have an answer, do you? Lots of opinions and hysteria, but no answer.

I dis-agree Gibson was not a Bush hater just because he questions why we are in Iraq does not mean he is a liberal

GIBSON has not bashed anybody who persecuted him he said he loves people and prays for them and I guess that includes Michael the Moron.

You know what? For a while I began to doubt too, but I decided that Bush was a good man and he would do all that he could to see this thing through. Does that make me liberal?
