Cox = China investigation

I think he'd be great, too.

The best part is that it was a common citizen (freeper), who brought him down.

Your tone to me was indeed outrageous.

I asked straightforwardly what the question was that Sean asked Goldberg that you thought he should have asked Schieffer.

For my trouble you responded very snottily that you didn't have transcripts and THEN you made a comment about "If you really don't want to believe that Sean was soft on Scheiffer.... go for it!" that was completely out of left field. That comment indicated you were treating me in a hostile fashion. I said nothing to indicate I had any preconceptions about Hannity's program and in fact said I wasn't listening to it.

Then you asked on the thread who Jeff Gannon was and when I answered you responded again in a rude and hostile way.

Do not lecture me on working together.

You might as well ask how they aired the story in the first place. They just go with it.

I also look for Ms. Mapes to insinuate that Karl Rove and the Bush campaign purposely planted the false documents in order to attack the creditably of those people who questioned Bush's National Guard service.

Finally, I expect that the DU dummies and the Lame Stream Media to lap all of this up and try to spin the story in that direction.

They already ran that up the flagpole and it went nowhere. The MSM will engage in their usual navel-gazing and self-flagellation (which is about as genuine as a three dollar bill) for a couple of days, and CBS' competitors will not be able to resist getting their shots in.

But very soon they'll all realize that it's in all their best interests if the story just quietly goes away, and then the refrain will be "Dan Rather's paid his dues, we should all let him retire with dignity and just move on." I expect any future spin on it to be along the "fake but accurate" line they tried to push early on in the story.

Has there ever been a case where the "errant" reporter lied about liberals in a way that hurt them? The fake stuff is always about conservatives or conservative groups. The New Republic guy, Blair, USA Today, CBS, etc. All the lies, all the "mistakes" (yeah, right -- and I was born yesterday) are about conservatives. Rather would not have rushed a story that was possibly untrue about Kerry, and before the election.

No, not ever. I don't believe CBS. I don't believe they couldn't get to the bottom of who did the forgeries. They're liars in my book.

"And what about Sandy Burger"

this is from a thursday AP story..

"Sandy Berger, who was President Clinton's national security adviser, also urged Bush to upgrade American diplomatic efforts in the area.

``Assuming Abu Mazen wins, it is the last chance we will have in a long time to have a moderate Palestinian government,'' Berger said. Abbas is also known as Abu Mazen.

He has to crack down on violence on his side but ``we cannot demand perfection, we have to expect 100 percent effort,'' Berger said in an interview. "

Looks like there's no stigma attached to his actions; He's still an authority on foreign affairs.

"How about this reaction "We are actively pursuing an investigation into the forging of federal documents that was done to influence a Presidential election and the full force of the DOJ will be brought to bear"

One can only dream. Only those on the left are able to show righteous indignation.

Rather would not have rushed a story that was possibly untrue about Kerry,

We have a real analagous story that was out there that Rather ignored: The Swiftboat Veterans for Truth that featured hundreds of honorable vets and they were deemed not worthy. Just the lies about Bush were what CBS wanted to air.

That alone proves the bias this "panel" was too timid to find.

"Well he didn't take the documents just for his own private collection. Common sense says the investigation wants to gather solid evidence of who directed him to do it and what happened with the documents. It's not enough to say we all know who, they need proof.
I've long said that until the new Attorney General is sworn in you will see not activity. But I'm confident the case is being worked. Oh, yes, it is."

I am sure your assesment of the situtation is quite accurate. There is no way that Mr. Burgers actions would not be investigated. Who knows, perhaps it will not involve Clinton when it is all said and done. Let us hope justice prevails in this case.

As CYNCooper in this thread indicated, the case is moving along and he will not get away with it. Surely his assesment is on the money. Sadly, he probably screwed up more during the Clinton Admin. with the Sandia deal, remember the charges that he allowed to much very sensitive information to get into the hands of the Chinese, he will get away with that. But the sock and underwear stuffing may end up putting him away for a few years. Perhaps willy will be found to be in on the reason for the document removal.

I hear you. You and I would love to hammer these lefties I guess, but Sean has to keep his job!

Sean Hannity has EXACTLY the right tone for this sort of thing. I've been a media critic on FR since the beginning, and I know what goes on down in the swamp that is DC.

You have to understand that Hannity is necessary. He can't go off on the sort of rant that we indulge in here. Schieffer is a lying sack of schiesse, but Sean can't call him on it. IT JUST ISN'T DONE.

However, I'll bet Sean got a few subtle but good kicks in at the basement floor jacks. ;-)

Yes, you are so right! Sean is needed. I do appreciate his zeal.
