A group that helps female Democratic candidates who support abortion rights is asking a federal judge to block new campaign finance rules that it argues will cripple its ability to participate in state and local elections.

Are these rules a result of McCain-Feingold and did EMILYs list support McCain-Feingold?

A great number of people were against it, and I firmly believe that President Bush also was. But he stuck his finger in the political wind and determined it was better to sign it and have SCOTUS declare it unconstitutional. And to the surprise of a great many SCOTUS didn't.

It is without question one of the courts worst rulings in history.
