(CNSNews.com) - Rock artist Kid Rock will not perform at the youth concert for the presidential inauguration, and conservatives are applauding the news because of outrage at the content of his lyrics."We have been informed that Kid Rock will not perform," said Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association.
According to Wildmon, over 100,000 people called and e-mailed the Presidential Inauguration Committee to voice their concerns over news that Kid Rock was invited to perform.
Wildmon said Kid Rock's lyrics focus on recreational sex and send a message of female sexual exploitation, both of which contradict the values of voters who support the president.
The rock artist also appeared in a porn film in 2000, the AFA noted.
Other than a few colorful words, what's particularly objectionable to the lyric? Because it's a quick hookup with a stranger? Like Clinton? Because he refuses to have her penetrate his rectum? Unlike Clinton? Is that what you object to?
It isn't as if this song would be performed at the inauguration. Get a grip! Or haven't you read any lyrics of "classic" songs be it from the Beatles or Chuck Berry or Elvis or Sinatra?
He was summarily axed. Not for what he was going to perform but what he has in his back catalog and might've done in his past.

Where's the outrage over Macy Gray who butchered the national anthem in her home town? She's supposed to perform at the inauguration as well. At least in her case, she's shown she has no respect for national institutions and thus has no reason to perform at this civil ceremony.

Actually, the song is about abortion. It's about a guy who is devastated by it.

It wasn't before my time, and I remember it very well. I mean, that man was up on stage shaking his hips and everything. Our young people (like me) shouldn't have had to see that. Who knows what it would lead to?
Before Elvis, it was Frank Sinatra, and I'm sure before him it was that awful jazz music.
Adults always think that their kids are going to Hell in a handbasket, and that the cause is those awful musicians or actors playing some sort of Satanic music.
Well, my folks' generation did OK. My generation did OK, and I'll bet today's generation does OK, too.

So some of his lyrics are a little off color.. so what? Speaking for myself, I'm a big boy, I can handle it, sheesh.
It figures, predictably somebody went and cut and pasted some lyrics frome some site. Presumably they have never actually heard the song. As if you know what a song is really like by reading typed out lyrics. (Bill O'Reilly does that alot and he looks like such a complete jackass everytime he does it in the eyes people who have actually listened to whatever song he's talking about. I am embarassed for him sometimes)
I am glad to see that a lot of people understand that he did support Bush and he did support the war and go entertain the troops, many of whom probably love Kid Rock. They understand that conservatives and Bush supporters come in many stripes and not all of them will look the same, act the same, or talk the same.
I personally don't listen to Kid Rock by the way, not a huge fan, he is talented though, and is probably a lot of fun to see live.
But after reading some of the posts on this thread, it's no wonder conservatives have been stuck with a stereotype that they are a bunch of prudes with a stick up their ass who think their ears will bleed if they hear an F- word. I am not getting on that boat, because I know it's ain't going very far. Some conservatives can act suprisingly like liberals as soon as they are exposed to something that makes them uncomfortable. It's dissapointing and will cost us in the long run.

I tend to think that you have no idea what you are talking about. Generally the "prudes" you are talking simply have experience a lot more than you have or ever will and have a lot more on the ball than you.

Yes. There are a lot of people here who live regular liberal lives and have total liberal values of the day and times wherein they think the typical garbage out forth in the MSM (eg a Kid Rock) is fine and even good or, funniest of all, entertaining.
They are probably young and a lot of people change their political afiliation with age -- both ways.
The people sticking up for Kid Rock here are fully inculcated with the MSM values and morals. Definitely much closer to Clinton than Bush or Reagan in their outlook on life and values.
Its great that somehow they think they are conservative or Republican and they vote that way.

Well we could always send Bob Hope, Brooke Shields and Charo to entertain the troops. No one is saying that Kid Rock is an angel. However, he believes in what we are doing over in Iraq and that is good enough for me.
Do I want him performing at the innaugural ball? Hayel no. On the other hand, I wouldn't want Neil Diamond performing at my annual head bangers bash.
The social conservative victory was once of symbolism, not substance. They won this round, and the moral relativists and hedonists lost. However, there are far more important battles, like remaking the composition of the Supreme Court. Many of the songs Kid Rock has performed are emblematic of the moral decline of our nation and the coarsening of American culture. However, I would rather have Kid Rock perform if the Bush Administration promised to select two or three strict constructionist, original intent justices to the Supreme Court and use their influence to assure Senate confirmation.
Looks like you read the first 2 lines and decided. The song is about the emotional emptiness of losing your child through abortion that has led the subject of (this case, the father) this song to drugs and suicidal tendencies. Sorry it isnt as simple as George Strait but it is what it is.

I'm SO glad to see that there are people who feel that the millions of voters who pulled the lever for the President are "useful idiots", simply because they do not toe some particular moral or religious line. Oh, and that they are apparently subject to manipulation by one segment of conservatism.
