Fresno sex offender removed from class

Woman was volunteer at Hamilton School for the past two years.

By Erin Kennedy / The Fresno Bee

Fresno Unified removed a parent volunteer Wednesday after allowing the registered sex offender to help regularly in elementary classrooms over the past two years.

Diana S. Delgado, 43, had been volunteering in her daughter's kindergarten and first-grade class at Hamilton School despite state law that bars her from such contact with children.

California education code prohibits sex offenders from being school volunteers. And state law excludes sex offenders from working or volunteering with children unsupervised or from being on school grounds except as necessary for their own children.

Hamilton School parents discovered Delgado's past on the state's Megan's Law Web site — at www.meganslaw.ca.gov. The site, launched last month, gives Californians easy access to detailed information on more than 63,000 of the state's most serious sex offenders. The site includes an updated photo, date of birth, home address and a list of the convictions for each offender.

PTA President Scott Fipps said parents brought the information to him, and he immediately alerted the Hamilton School principal Monday. Fipps was shocked to learn that district officials already knew of Delgado's two misdemeanor convictions for annoying or molesting children.

The principal "told me that [administration] was aware of it, and they looked into it and advised [Hamilton School Principal Steve] Gettman that she has a right to volunteer. I'm listening to this, and my jaw is on the floor," Fipps said.

"If Fresno Unified legal decides she has a right to be there, my position is they have to notify every parent in the classroom."

Government employees will almost always side with protecting a criminal's civil rights over protecting the rights, property or lives of children or innocent citizens. We can thank the lawyers and liberal judges. ... A person convicted of misdemeanor child sex abuse (possibly charged with a felony and knocked down to misdemeanor in a plea agreement) working as a teacher's aid in a school ... that sounds about typical.

A RIGHT TO VOLUNTEER....FUSD has a very strange "Smell Test" for such matter.

UNBELIEVABLE....

This is the same district which just CUT Elementary Music for the entire district last year....yet spent nearly $10,000 for a new conference table for the disgraced and ousted School Superintendant...

When I was a kid, I was afraid of getting paddled at school. Now, as a parent, I'm afraid of my kids getting molested or shot. It's time to take our schools back.

Good grief, I annoy my children daily.

Couldn't agree with you more...the trouble is that these educrats are dug in harder than a Carolina Tick.  We hear about such stories daily, and yet we bumble on with life.  The parents of Fresno Unified should be marching on this district, and DEMANDING the firing of ALL ADMINISTRATORS, TEACHERS and LAWYERS involved with advising that the RIGHTS of the MOLESTER had to be considered.

STATE LAW demands the MOLESTER to be banned from all access to kids, except for Conferences, Ceremonies and Sports Events.

These EDUCRATS VIOLATED the LAW....

(inhale)......

......(exhale)

I got tired of holding my breath...for something to happen.  What a shame...

This is just wrong. Your link didn't work for me, maybe it's only for Californians? Anyway, does anyone have any idea what her crimes actually were? If she was just "annoying" children, that's one thing. If she's a sex perv, she shouldn't be within a mile of kids, let alone working with them.

LOL...

Plead to lesser offense...but I agree with you. I would be sentenced to LIFE for the times I simply annoy my kids...

Clean your room, empty the dryer, get your homework done.  No you can't borrow the car...etc.

annoying?

A misdemeanor charge of annoying or molesting a child can cover anything from sexual comments to showing pornographic material to a child to inappropriate touching.

As noted earlier, radio reports are noting that Delgado plead down to lesser offense, and registration as Sex Offender.....

Will dig for more details, as you have requested....

That individual even looks sick. I note that they decline to disclose her address, as they do with most sex offenders.

More concerned about the rights of the school official than the children? Isn't that what the United Nations Socialist Teacher's Union is supposed to do? The United Nazis that indoctrinate our kids are the most perverse and corrupt lot in the history of this county...

And they wonder why there are calls for parents to remove their children from public schools?

even looks sick...

Agreed...what is "sick" is the mine shaft drop in values by our schools.  The efforts put forth to protect deviancy is mind boggling.  A google search finds similar cases around the country...of School Administrators "Protecting or covering" for deviants...both deviant students, deviant parents and worse of all....not firing or prosecuting DEVIANT teachers.....

Very troubling...

Home School Bump...
