Help Make This Book Successful - "In the Red Zone"
Saw on FOX and Friends | 1-14-05

I don't know if this is allowed on FR (sorry if I'm violating something here), but there was a compelling new book/author being featured this morning on FOX and Friends by free-lance New York-based journalist Steven Vincent entitled, "In the Red Zone."

Vincent, a swarthy and dangerous-looking guy embedded himself among the people of Bagdhad, not in the safety of the Green Zone, but out in the town. Talking to hundreds of Iraqis over months in late '03 and early '04, the premise of his book as he explained it today is that current journalists aren't reporting the war in the correct context and have things all backwards.

Vincent says it is the Iraqi PEOPLE who are the resistance in this war...the policemen, National Guard and other Iraqi citizens who are tryig to unite in their resistance to Islamofascists trying to hijack their fledgeling democracy.

Vincent says for some reason, the media today has it backwards and reports that terrorists such as Al-Zarquawri (sorry for spelling) are the resistance...and he says that is wrong.

He made a lot of sense to me, and I plan to buy this book.

Vincent related how he watched the WTC fall from his building in NYC, and knew his country was at war. He said he was too old to enlist, so decided to use his writing skills to do what he can in the war on terrorism.

I was impressed.

I saw this and I agree. His attitude and take on the issues was refreshing and uncommon among those in his industry. I also thought it was interesting that rather than go as an embed he went on his own and lived among the Iraqis.

Powerful:

The most despicable misuse of terminology, however, occurs when Leftists call the Saddamites and foreign jihadists “the resistance.” What an example of moral inversion! For the fact is, paramilitary death squads are attacking the Iraqi people. And those who oppose the killers--the Iraqi police and National Guardsmen, members of the Allawi government, people like Nour—they are the “resistance.” They are preventing Islamofascists from seizing Iraq, they are resisting evil men from turning the entire nation into a mass slaughterhouse like we saw in re-liberated Falluja. Anyone who cares about success in our struggle against Islamofascism—or upholds principles of moral clarity and lucid thought—should combat such Orwellian distortions of our language.
