Wow....10 years? Many of the Nazi murderers at Nuremburg got off with less than that.

I think it is justified also, and he better hope that whatever facility he goes to, doesn't have a contingent of Muslims in it---

Also, wasn't this the same guy that was a civilian prison guard with a bad reputation for mistreatment, before he went into the service? If it is, then he really deserves his sentence!

Can you imagine the future for Lindy England and his baby? That poor thing is doomed, unless put up for adoption!!

Hell, why is that asshat STILL alive?!

We don't like it when other countries tell us how to conduct our own legal business. The flip side of that coin is that we shouldn't look to other countries for a yardstick from which to gauge the justness of our military justice.

The media will harp this up one wall and down the other. However, we need to separate that from the relevance of the decision rendered.

Was punching an inmate in the head, knocking him into a wall and leaving a bloody trail down the wall, with the result being that the inmate had a concussion and was completely knocked out,"no biggie"? That's also what he did and is being prosecuted for.

But what you said,IS also at the root of this too.

The US should be ashamed of sending this soldier to jail. Notice how the intell. higher ups are running for cover. He'd have been better off if he'd just beheaded the prisoners. Nothing's said or done about Muslims who do that.

"Graner, a 36-year-old reservist from Uniontown, Pa., faced 10 counts under five separate charges: Assault, conspiracy, maltreatment of detainees, committing indecent acts and dereliction of duty. He was found guilty on all counts, except that one assault count was downgraded to battery.

The shocking photos of reservists abusing and sexually humiliating prisoners were first broadcast on CBS's ``60 Minutes II'' in April.

A month later, President Bush urged Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld to make sure that any guilty U.S. soldiers be punished for ``shameful and appalling acts.''

Typically, Fort Levenworth, Kansas would be the destination for active duty military offenders. This may have changed over the past 30 years. IT was a fortress like structure, several tiers high, built in the 1860's. Ten years is way over the top. This is not justice. This is a media lynching.

Absolutely...

Whatever people saw in those stupid pictures PALES in comparision to what you will not see, that actually is torture, or softening up of prisoners to get them prepared for the "real" interrogations to follow...

All this naked-ness, leash bags over their heads and having women in their presense is an absolute physically painless method of getting the results the "intelligence" community needed at the time...

Just goes to show how absolutely stupid and gutless some people are who think that that treatment and conditions rendered in Abu Graib wasn't warranted or justified...

I guess it would be better to just line a bunch of them up, shoot the first prisoner, ask the next one a question, if no answer is given, shoot that one, and proceed down the line till you get an answer...Seem rediculously reasonable to me...Saves money and time...

But then again those who are offended by these actions, so far, think you'd hear about stuff like what I just theorized...

Otherwise I guess it would be better for us and the rest of the world if we just wrap our arms around these poor individuals, hug them and squeeze them and call them George, before we let them go with a $1000 in their pocket and wish them well...

Maybe they, and the rest of the world will think better of us then...

Geesh...Forgive me...I am just shooting from the hip on this one...

I can't speculate on whether or not anyone above Graner was involved.

But his gleeful face in those photographs is worth 10 years in and of itself, perhaps more.

You are excused.

And since both are in prison (wasn't England sent to jail?) I would think the baby would have to be put up for adoption.

also, in a realistic way, how many of those prisoners are insurgents with bad intentions, and how many are simply innocent men held under suspicion?

I've been in a few holding cells, and no cop has asked me to form a naked pyramid with other soldiers. This is no joke people, even *if* guilty, mockery by the people in command is nothing to laugh about. And thats only one picture of what we saw, god knows what is happening now.

I want to see the bad man rid of, but his verdict doesn't surprise me. I'm actually pleased because he should not be any sort of representative/precedence to go by. If they are jailed under god knows what conditions, let them have their food and sleep. Plastic bags on the head and dogs are not acceptable IMO. America doesn't do it to their own, why do it to them?

Just my two cents.
