Thanks for the thread HLL, I always enjoy the postings. Will try to pop in now and then.

Be prepared for the usual sourpusses who will rain on the parade though. (I'm sure you are.) Hey, we all need a little diversion now and then.

Want to know how it will turn out ahead of time?

It's easy!
Ask yourself "What would Satan do?"

Best Motion Picture -
Million Dollar Baby
For it's promotion of "Mercy Killing".

Best Actor
Liam Neeson in "Kinsey"
For it's promotion of Homosexuality.

Best Actress
Imelda Staunton in "Vera Drake"
For it's promotion of Abortion

Never mentioned because it wasn't nominated
"Passion of the Christ"

I thought "Troy" was worthy of a few nominations. Several others too.

Every year they choose obscure, low-budget, unpopular, often completely offensive movies. And the SAME actors over and over: Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Nicole Kidman, Renee Zelwegger, etc. That Bridget Jones sequel was a total bomb.
But...I'll watch the Golden Globes and Academy Awards anyway! It's simply curiosity about that strange croud of over-paid, self-indulgent, corrupt, uneducated, and automatically left-leaning fools (They do NOT think for themselves! They are like high school students, conformity to be cool)!

Is Star Jones' new husband gay? He looks gay to me from the pictures I've seen. The photos of her wedding were repulsive to me in their extravagant decadence. I'm sure I was influenced by the aversion I already had for her.

At any rate, thank you for the thread. Being out west I always see the red carpet and the actual event later so it's fun to read and not have to watch.

What piece did the networks run opposite the Golden Globes a few years back? Wasn't it the Juanita Broaddrick interview with Lisa Myers?

It's bad enough that "The Passion" was ignored for Best Picture nomination but to ignore it for Best Picture in a foreign language category is OUTRAGEOUS! And no nomination for anyone? RIDICULOUS!

And anyone affiliated with the Globes should be ashamed!

It will be interesting to see if anyone even mentions this fact in passing during the ceremony?

Movie fanatics of the world unite! Oh yeah, This is my kind of thread.

The Globes are a bit of a pale imitation of the Academy Awards (still THE big boy of all movie award ceremonies), but since my appetite for Oscar cannot be sated until the nominations are announced in the early morning of Jan. 25, the Globes will have to tide me over for the next 8-9 days.

Of all the nominated films in all the nominated categories, I'm rooting the most for Michael Gondry's absolutely brilliant Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind to win the Best Comedy/Musical Award. Hopefully they will honor Kate Winslet's riveting, color-coded lead performance and Charlie Kauffman's endlessly original script as well.

I'd also looove to see Jaime Foxx take home Best Actor for Ray, and Natalie Portman win Best Supporting Actress for her sexy, solid work in Closer. For Best Supporting Actor, either Clive Owens' vicious turn in Closer or David Carradine's ultra-cool performance in Kill Bill: Vol 2 will suit me just fine.

I have absolutely no interest in watching this bloated spectacle. And I sure do not want to watch nor can I stand Joan and Melissa and their whining voices.
Just give the awards to the most Left Wing Liberals in Hollywood and call it a night.
Last night I finally got around to watching the 4 hours I had taped of "24" and man I could not get enough of it. It had me on edge from the first minute and Jack Bauer is once again the Man. We need him running Homeland Security and William Devane as the President.
