The woman known as "Roe" in the landmark case that struck down all state laws restricting abortion has filed an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn its 1973 decision.
Norma McCorvey
As WorldNetDaily reported, Norma McCorvey began a quest in 2003 to reopen the case, based on changes in law and new scientific research that make the prior decision "no longer just."
WND will have more information on the appeal later this evening.
In September, the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the case, saying the issue was moot because it did not present a "live case or controversy."
However, one of the three judges on the panel criticized the Supreme Court that handed down the original ruling, saying it was an "exercise of raw judicial power."
In her concurring opinion, Judge Edith Jones lamented the case was moot, which prevented McCorvey's evidence from being heard: "If courts were to delve into the facts underlying Roe's balancing scheme with present-day knowledge, they might conclude that the woman's 'choice' is far more risky and less beneficial, and the child's sentience far more advanced, than the Roe Court knew."
Jones wrote, "The perverse result of the Court's having determined through constitutional adjudication this fundamental social policy, which affects over a million women and unborn babies each year, is that the facts no longer matter. This is a peculiar outcome for a Court so committed to 'life' that it struggles with the particular facts of dozens of death penalty cases each year."

Sad isn't it. The world was all aghast at the tragedy of the tsunami. When I heard someone say that that many babies are aborted every day. Now I don't know if that number was right but it sure made me stop and think!
Well a Tsunami is an "act of God", a genuine tragedy. An abortion is an act of man, a genuine murder.
She is (was?) a professor here at the University of Texas, a born-again Christian. Good for her.
I think the annual number of abortions is around 1.7 million, more than 10 times the tsunami victims. Both are very sad, yet only one of them can we as a nation prevent, but we refuse to.
Yes that's true. An abortion is man made. I was referring to the numbers involved. But many women and men use abortion as a birth control.
For every two children you see, there is third one who was not allowed to live.
For every class of twenty children you see, ten are missing.
This holocaust has to stop.
I understand. My point was that a natural disaster is far less "sad" than the man made disaster of abortion.
Empty Playgrounds
A poem by Miss Norma McCorvey
The former Jane Roe of Roe v. Wade
Director, Crossing Over Ministry
I sit across from a playground that I visited this eve with a small child.
I know of such places where children play.
I know that I am the cause of them not being here today.
These playgrounds for "innocent children" now dead because of sins I helped do.
I hope, Lord, that the wonderful playground is well guarded with angels.
Angels who will protect them keep them happy and safe.
Angels who will make them smile and laugh.
So that when that glorious day comes; the children will not hold "the sin" against me.
For every time I see a playground empty, I will know that yours will be full.
The sun is now setting, and my heart hurts, Lord.
For the numbers who from abortion have been torn apart.
I pray you can put them back together and make them whole.
If you like, Lord, use my body to make your precious children whole again.
I ask you to do this not only for them, Lord, but also for the love I have for each of them.
Lord, God, you gave your only Son, and He died and shed His blood for us.
All I did was give my baby away so that "women could tear theirs apart."
For this I will never be able to look in your face out of shame.
Oh ok! thanks...Now I'm crying. That poem is so sad. Just like abortion. Just dang!
I have a question for all of my Freeper friends. Norma McCorvey was "Jane Roe" in the Roe Vrs. Wade Case/decision, Who was Wade and how did they fit into all this?
I hope I don't look to stupid with this question.
Henry Wade, District Attorney for Dallas County
You truly think 200,000 babies are aborted everyday? Puhleez.
I don't believe that statistic one single bit. Please cite your source.
I don't care if you don't believe it. Either stick your head back in the sand or do a little research yourself. You might learn something.
How did he figure into this mess?
On Hannity now
thanks
Fox News, Hannity & Colmes...she is announcing it now.
PING BIG
If Roe v Wade needs to be revisited, it will have to be with at least three new judges in place.
