Jane Roe: Overturn Roe vs. Wade

Norma McCorvey, who was "Jane Roe" in the 1973 Roe v. Wade case that overturned all laws prohibiting abortion, will hold a press conference Tuesday, January 18, at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time to say that she is filing what is known as a Motion 60 brief to overturn the decision. She announced this Monday night on Fox News Channel's "Hannity and Colmes."

Her request rests on federal rules that allow an original party to request a ruling be vacated when factual and legal changes make the decision no longer just.

McCorvey claims to have the testimony of over 1,000 women who claim to have been hurt by abortion, saying that the emotional, physical, and psychological effects of their abortions were devastating to them.

McCorvey said that if there had been the technology that we have now, such as sonograms, she believes that the Roe decision might have been differently decided. She also cited the increased knowledge of the damaging effects abortion has on women's physical and mental health. McCorvey noted new technology that dramatically increases the viablility of the unborn child. New laws that allow "safe haven" for women to leave their babies relieve them of the obligation of raising a child they cannot raise, McCorvey's motion notes.

According to McCorvey's lawyer, Allan Parker, the motion, filed under "Rule 60", will ask the Supreme Court to vacate the Roe ruling -- "set it aside as if it never happened," according to Parker. If the motion is successful, this would put the power to regulate abortions back in the hands of the states.

God bless her for doing this. Even if the attempt fails, it will be in the record.

God bless her.

This woman is very courageous. And one has to think, how would it feel to have so many millions killed as a result of something you were so deeply involved in. As I understand it, she was used. Anyone have the details on this?

Pray that 4 of the Justices will agree to hear the petitions and consider overturning of an unjust and unmerciful ruling that has resulted in the death of millions in this nation.

We can only pray!!!!!!!!!!!!

No, we can do a great deal more than pray, about this and every other wicked construct that has been set up against our Constitutional mandate for self government.

I invite you to meditate on the last five words of that previous sentence.

If this Court were to reopen the case, there's a good possibility that the majority would determine that abortion should be required in all cases.

We really do have to get new Justices on the bench.
