Mofaz: IDF will enter Gaza if Kassams don't stop
By JPOST.COM STAFF
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz said Tuesdsay night that if Kassam attacks on Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip and southern Negev towns continue, there will be no choice but to embark on a widespread operation in the region.
Mofaz spoke to Channel 2 TV shortly after a suicide bomb attack Tuesday night at a roadblock near Gush Katif, which wounded seven people.
"Terror organizations are making every effort to harm us, especially as disengagement approaches," Mofaz said. "The operation would be wide not on the scale of Operation Defensive Shield, but we will operate in the northern Gaza Strip, in the areas of Biet Hanun and Jabaliya," if the rocket attacks do not cease.
Abbas has directed Palestinian security forces to prevent attacks and is attempting to get the various factions to agree to a ceasefire. But we will be looking for the results of these directions, the instructions alone are not sufficient, Mofaz said.
Punishment delayed and softened actually increases the likelihood of the undesirable behavior.
Izrael news information ping Thank you
What a joke.
Israel is going on a major op. after the US just paid the terrorist PLO 20 million for a "free and fair" non-violent election installing abu mazen??
Israel: Zero believability.
I'll believe that Israel is serious about defeating terrorists when they buy a few dozen B52's from us.
Israel is very comfortable forever being the victim.
She steadfastly refuses every opportunity to be strong.
If you keep making threats and never carrying through with them, soon no one fears or respects you anymore.
