Wal-Mart shoppers turned into rescuers Monday, lifting a car off a married couple in the parking lot of a Pembroke Pines store after an 88-year-old driver backed over them.
Police said Able Pachon, 68, and Josefina Pachon, 65, visiting from Colombia, were walking outside the Wal-Mart when Marie Miller, 88, of Pembroke Pines, backed her 1988 Toyota Cressida over them, critically injuring them.
The Toyota then hit a parked Ford Mustang, which hit a Jeep Liberty next to it. Neither car was occupied.
Armando Barrionuevo, 29, was loading groceries into his car outside the store at Pines Boulevard and Southwest 184th Avenue just after 3:30 p.m. when the accident happened nearby.
He rushed to the Toyota, pulled Miller out and moved the gear shift from reverse to park. Then he tried to free the husband and wife who were trapped underneath.

WOO
That is just a tad too old ot be driving.
Only one WalMart in Pembroke Pines, and I've been there. Weird...
The accident happened in the parking lot of a Pembroke Pines [Florida] Walmart
Go ahead and blame WalMart, they deserve it.
Since this was a Cressida, it was the drivers fault. Had this been a Ford Excursion, the headline would have read "SUV Runs Over Two at Florida Wal-Mart".
At some point, you're old to drive. 88 years old?
88yo, 68yo, 65yo.......just another day in Floriduh....
Imature care gone mad assults two AARP members in Wal-Mart to show it needs to be listened to. Sarcasm off

Senior citizens should have to retake their driving tests. Once they turn 70--every three years. Once they turn eighty--every two years. Eye exams should be given every year or license will be revoked until exam is taken.
So have I. Scary.
I guess she couldn't find a Farmers Market.
Quagmire! Withdraw from Florida!
29? He must be somebody's visiting grandson.
I think that is an excellent idea. That said, I noticed that even if she hadn't run these two people down, she HIT TWO OTHER VEHICLES! Did she have a heart attack or something? This is strange.
I've been trying to convince my girls that I'm too old, and they should get me a limo and driver. It hasn't worked yet, but I've got 44 more years of convincing before I'm 88.
Prayers for the injured.
