Just heard, apparently police are out in force after hearing of the threat
Two points:
The Japanese did send a Declaration of War for the Japanese ambassador to deliver to the White House an hour before the attack, but there were only two people cleared for decoding the encrypted cable, and neither one was a typist. They delivered the cable late.
The Japanese Navy did not send the follow-up attack on the Navy fuel depot and maintenance facilities because the American aircraft carriers were not it port, and Admiral Yamamoto decided not to risk his fleet being found by the enemy carriers.
He's on their trail as we speak.

My first speculation is that the terrorists are smart enough to make a feint at Boston to draw attention away from their real target, the President's inauguration tomorrow in Washington DC......

It is a local joke. There are worse comments that the one I made said daily. Of course I wish no such trouble or terror on any of our citizens or good and decent people but Lawrence has a smaller proportion of such people than any place I know.

I am looking out my window now onto the Boston Common. All is normal: Dirty (as in real dirt) snow, bums sleeping on benches, J-walkers, and some guy talking to himself. Man, I really need to move to Florida.

Here's another possibility: that some ME nation that shall remain nameless has gotten wind of a threat and has decided to drop a dime on the perp/s in order to save itself from being blasted into kingdom come.

Good point, really. I would think a little radiation would merely balance out the sludge and chemicals in the Charles/Harbor.
The psychological impact and contamination of prime real estate will do plenty of damage.

It's just a few who are making jokes about this. It's part of Free Republic culture, I guess. I don't find it funny at all. I have relatives in the Boston area (Republicans, if it matters.)
It's a poor sort of humor that wishes harm on other Americans.
