Boston on High Alert after FBI Bomb Threat

(Boston -AP, January 19, 2005)

Teams of police officers are prowling the streets of Boston with radiological sensors as the FBI tries to unravel uncorroborated information that indicates someone may intend to detonate a dirty bomb.

Eyewitness News is told every agency has been put on notice just in case. ABC News says multiple sources confirm that the FBI is in possession of a detailed plan to smuggle nuclear material into the U.S. from Mexico through New York and into Boston.

It just seems like a long way to go from Mexico to Boston with nuclear stuff!!

Seems fishy to me.

Economic damage would be "greater" than the loss of life. Depending on the conventional explosive and where it is placed.

Basically, the cost of scrubbing the affected area would be astronomical, but even more lasting would be the economic impact. People wouldn't trust that the area was safe. Real estate, business would literally go into a depression in the effected area.
