President and Mrs. Bush visited the National Archives to view some of our nation's founding documents.

In spite of some Senators Behaving Badly (particularly John Kerry and Barbara Boxer), the Senate Foreign Relations Committee voted Wednesday to confirm Condoleezza Rice as secretary of state; the nomination now goes to the full Senate for a vote.

Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island: one day to go till W2!

Yep .. it's one of those photo-shopped photos that came out during the 2000 election. I found it and posted it at the request of a previous poster who was looking for it.

I,too, thought that CNN and MSNBC was doing better than Fox in covering the pre inauguration celebrations. Can't believe Fox forced me to tune into CNN......ugh! But, I was glad CNN was showing our handsome President and beautiful Laura at the Celebrate America concert and then at the Black Tie and Boots ball. Sure hope Fox does good job tomorrow. Ooooooooohhhhhhhh, wish I was there!!!!

Well, while I'm pointing things out......... if you watch the clip Fox is showing as the First Couple is leaving the Texas ball, notice how they are holding hands, and then let go while the President goes back to greet someone, and Laura puts her hand inside his upper arm, and lets it slid down his arm to hold his other hand.

It's a neat technique she uses to keep 'in touch' with him...........methinks Laura's as much of a romantic as I am! :o)

Don't see a "Live" thread for tonight .. are you talking about tomorrow?

I really really love Laura Bush in this gorgeous silk dupioni dress .. just lovely on her, and delicious color (and no bow -- yay!)

Sitting across the table from me was a young lady who works at National Archives and I had a neat time asking her all kinds of questions when Michael had to leave for a taping of "Crossfire".What a wonderful experience! Hope you are feeling better. I prayed for your recovery. When we were living in Washington, the kids were aged about seven to thirteen and my wife took them to see everything of importance while I was at work and It was a wonderful experience fot the children. They got a great education about our country in that year.

We were "supposed" to get a dusting, maybe an inch. I got a measureable THREE inches. I'm worried about the "dusting" we are supposed to get on Thursday. And on Saturday night into Sunday, we are supposed to get inches, that I suppose will be measureable in feet. We put a man on the moon, can't we predict weather better than this?

Rats! I wanted to be living in FL before I ever had to shovel anything white, ever again, and I'll have to go out and shovel tomorrow - unless one of my neighbors has seen me on crutches and comes over with their snow blower and does my driveway for me. Wishful thinking......

LOL on your "boss!" I just told mine that I have to take a personal day. She didn't press me. If she had, I would have told her that since I had received an engraved inaugural invitation from RNC & an offer of a ticket from Rep. Bobby Jindal, I WILL be attending if only in my living room. I'm thrilled for all that are really getting to go, but I will be wearing my I STAND WITH PRESIDENT GEORGE W BUSH sweatshirt and enjoying it all.

I am so excited about tomorrow, I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas.

That is one impressive car.

I understand it has an addition for our hard working President - a desk to write on. Makes sense to me that he'd want to work, on occasion.

I saw an ad for a Cadillac CTS tonight - and the car for the public is a nice one, too.

We were more fortunate here in the DC area, MM. There is a channel that is the news arm of the ABC channel. WJLA is on channel 7, and this "all news all the time" is on channel 8 and they covered the Salute to Freedom right up until the First Families left. It was great.

But other than that, I agree with you - that more stations should have been carrying the events nationally. I called a friend and told her what to look for on her screen (she has no idea what channels are what on her cable box. No comment from me.) and she finally found it.

I hope the cable stations do a better job of it tomorrow or I'm going to be very mad that I'm not out on a DC street - which with all of the Metro station closings and me on crutches would be pretty impossible to say nothing of the snow and cold. Brrrrr! It was 72 degrees last Thursday - and tomorrow it will be 29. Ouchie. No time to adjust.

The good news is that the Limo that the President has been using is also one that Slick Willy never used. It was delivered 2 days after Slick finally left DC, IIRC.

It was ordered by BC but he never got to ride in it.

This one has some custom features requested by Pres. Bush, only a couple of which have been revealed. I wish we knew more - I'd love to know all of what he wanted in the interior, wouldn't you?

'...wearing my I Stand With President Bush shirt......

YAY!!! I plan to do the same thing...put on my Bush/Cheney tee shirt (even tho it's cold here in Fla..41degrees this am)and wear my W 04 hat and plant myself in front of the TV where every once in a while I will yell YEEE HAH ! or GO W!!
I warned my hubby, I'll not answer the phone or be disturbed....I will mentally be in D.C.

It's great to be able to share this event with all the wonderful Freepers on the Dose. God bless you, all, for the work you do to support our great President and our great country.

What a great thing to do before his second Inauguration! Visiting our historic documents.

I thought that was a wonderful thing to do, too. GWB has so much respect for America and our history, and such a sense of humility and awe for his place in it. In those pictures you could just sense the wonderful respect he has for those who have gone before him and for the history of this country.

What an incredible difference between this President and his predecessor. I never cease to marvel at our fortune in having this wonderful man to lead us out through the wilderness after the mess that the carpetbaggers put us in.
