ABC News: Fair and Balanced
Well, sure. ABC wants to "balance" its coverage of President Bush's inauguration with coverage of a military funeral:
Jan. 19, 2005 — For a possible Inauguration Day story on ABC News, we are trying to find out if there any military funerals for Iraq war casualties scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20. If you know of a funeral and whether the family might be willing to talk to ABC News, please fill out the form below: Note that only the families of Iraqi war dead need apply. If a soldier died in Afghanistan, or aiding tsunami victims in Indonesia or Sri Lanka, or in a training exercise, never mind. That isn't the "balance" ABC is looking for.
Every time I think the MSM have stooped as low as they can go, they surprise me.
Thanks to San Antonio Express-News Watch and to reader Bill Crawford
My same reaction!
On the powerline blog there is a link to send ABC any information on a funeral. Unfortunately, I am not html skilled enough to recreate the link. (Maybe some better skilled Freeper can assist and then teach me how it is done).
Anyway, for shoots and giggles, I sent them an e-mail informing them that the only funeral I know about is the impending funeral of the MSM including ABC News
These guys really have to wake up to the information age. It is patently obvious what they are trying to do.
Just did. Everyone, go fill out the form and let them know what you think.
You can't pick out hoaxes any better than this?
C'mon ABC and the rest are bad enough but to pass this
on as the truth makes you look worse.
If this is a hoax, why does going to the link I posted take you to ABC news real web site?
They should be flooded with bogus addresses and funerals. *wink, wink*. Anti-American *ssholes, the lot of them...
Your Today Show ping list might be interested in this
Took me to a web site that mentions ABC once but I
can't bring up the e-mail addy. Can you?
When I followed the links from Powerline I ended up at
http://www.abcnews.go.com/US/Inauguration/story?id=425110&page=1
If you google "ABC News" you see that abcnews.go.com is, in fact, their actual site.
So unless this is one hell of a hoax, it is legit.
It is not a hoax.
See
http://www.abcnews.go.com/US/Inauguration/story?id=425110&page=1 for details.
The web site you mention is ABC news' official web site.
C'mon. You can't be that dense.
I found it too but the poster took some editorial
liberty. It doesn't mention not to bother to
reply if the deceased served in Afganistan,South Asia.
It does appear to have political implications but no where
close to the original poster implications.
Ping
A-men, a pox on the MSM and the DNC.
I filled out the form and told them that we were having a memorial service for Sgt. Rafael Peralta and we would be glad to talk to them.
I ain't holding my breath.
The article came from Scott Johnson's Powerline Blog. I think he was trying to illustrate how ABC News was specifically looking for funerals of soldiers in Iraq to cast a negative light on President Bush's inaguration. The fact that they are not looking for funerals of any other victims of war or disaters arguably on one of Bush's biggest days illustrates this point. It was editorial comment. IMHO
Well, what would you expect from a network that gleefully runs the names of the military dead every Sunday?
Absolutely sickening...
Oh? Let's review here:
From the blog:

Where, precisely, does it say that ABC news is interested in hearing about any funeral but that of an Iraq war casualty?
If I say I want strawberry ice cream, I don't have to tell you that I don't want chocolate, raspberry or vanilla ice cream for you to understand that I don't want those other flavors, do I?
Same here, note below:
Funeral at 10AM for ABC News-family members in attendance are Peter "Jerk" Jennings, Baba Wawa, Ted "Turd" Koppel, Diane "Dunce" Sawyer, and many others of the once thought they were great mainstream media network. Times change, ABC did not, thus its death is long overdue.
