ABC News: Fair and Balanced
Well, sure. ABC wants to "balance" its coverage of President Bush's inauguration with coverage of a military funeral:
Jan. 19, 2005 For a possible Inauguration Day story on ABC News, we are trying to find out if there any military funerals for Iraq war casualties scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 20. If you know of a funeral and whether the family might be willing to talk to ABC News, please fill out the form below: Note that only the families of Iraqi war dead need apply. If a soldier died in Afghanistan, or aiding tsunami victims in Indonesia or Sri Lanka, or in a training exercise, never mind. That isn't the "balance" ABC is looking for.
Every time I think the MSM have stooped as low as they can go, they surprise me.
Thanks to San Antonio Express-News Watch and to reader Bill Crawford.
UPDATE: ABC has now taken down its solicitation of a military funeral to rain on the inaugural parade. Chalk up another small victory for our readers.
FURTHER UPDATE: Our friend Captain Ed archived the ABC page, foreseeing that it was likely to disappear. His screen shot is a little funky and doesn't exactly duplicate the original, but it's close. I gotta learn how to do that...

So far I have heard the words "lavish" about 100 times.
They just interviewed a woman who lost a son and believes the inauguration is too lavish.
My thought...OK..she has a right to that opinion. Why are they interviewing her and not the hundreds of other people that lost loved ones and believe that the inauguration is a celebration of the freedom that their loved one paid the highest price to achieve?
It sucks being in a hotel room right now because hotels rarely carry Fox News.

ABC News is ghoulish and despicable for doing this. They obviously figured how wrong it was because the web page was removed soon after it was discovered by bloggers.

Yep, that's it.
In a perfect universe, ABC would learn at 10:45 am Eastern Time today that Michael Moore died of massive coronary failure last night, and they can broadcast all the details of that story.
And when it's time for MooreOn's funeral, they can broadcast THAT - on a wide screen of course.

The networks obvious canot handle giving Bush his due. Last inauguration they spent more time following Slick around than they did the swearing-in events. Now they want to counterbalance the mandatory Bush coverage with a funeral of a soldier killed in Iraq. That's really so pathetic. Is it any wonder the nets are losing market share?

I was channel hopping last night and came upon the last few minutes of ABC Nightly News.
They did a spot about how large corporations and "fat cats" are financing this inauguration. The regular guy was ignored. Only corporations, who then lobby for favors are participating in the festivities. Only the evil Republicans were mentioned when it came to financing past inaugurations. They never mentioned Clinton.
They then cut to Jennings who promoted todays coverage about all the great coverage they would have starting at 7:00 am. He said it would be fun and entertaining.
I remembered why I never watch network news.

Chilling.
How freakin' low can they go? These people are soulless.

Last weekend we had a weekend stay in the big city and they didn't have FNC. They got a customer "satisfaction" card requesting it.

Exactly correct. I'd further add that CBS is not an anomaly. They're
ALL like this. Every one of them would have loved to break the ANG memo story. It was a guarded secret not only to keep the Bush campaign from knowing, but also their rivals at ABCCNNNBCPBS from finding out and breaking the story first.
They hate Republicans/conservatives. Imagine them doing this to Clinton? NEVER!
To: Abathar
This story is a good one because it illustrates how many idiots work for the MSM. They insist in defining their jobs as "Anything but News!" Somebody had to come up with this "bright idea". He/she/it should be fired.
Manufacturing news doesn't exactly endear them to their readers when at the same time, they neglect to publish news items they would rather we not read.

"What? He puts his hand on a Bible and they swear him in? This is against Sharia Law! He should use the Koran! We need a fatwa!" Said Mohammad Mohammad in between sniffing the man's butt in front of him and adjusting the suicide belt he is working on for his son.
ABC News researched the issue and found that the Koran may have been used by Abraham Lincoln during his inauguration and that, of course, Lincoln was gay.

ABC News was and still is in my humble opinion run by left-wing anti-American Canadians. Peter the Jenk was not a US citizen for 90% of his time on ABC, he just got his citizenship in the last two years or so. The hate American crowd at ABC are a disgrace as are the others who hire Canadians and pass them off as real Americans.

They think that we have short memories. Boy, are they in for a shock.
Just like yesterday when someone at Condi's hearing said something about China. I thought, you dumb*sses. Do you actually remember when the money machine from the China government had a free reign at the WH?
Then Babs Boxer talking about Condi lying to her. I seem to remember the biggest liar on the face of the earth that she supported lying to her face.
Then we had Ted Kennedy accusing someone pretending to drown terrorist but he actually drowned someone and lied about it.
And, then, Joe Biden, plagiarist, lecturing Condi on lying.
I'm thinking how bizarre is this?!
