Agree, especially since prior studies on Beta Amyloid vaccines induced potentially lethal encephalitis in humans, but autopsy studies showed it was also clearing Amyloid plaques. If they can get this approach to be less toxic, it has the potential for being world changing.

I'm 72. I don't worry about cancer,or stroke,or heart disease or getting run over by a bus.

I worry about Alzheimer's,as do most of my friends.

There was an article about curry powder recently. Scientists are studying it because of the low incidence of Alzheimers in India. They are looking at tumeric as an ingredient which protects against alzheimers and helps remove the plaque from the brain.

From talking to one of our friends who has been diagnosed, he's not necessarily worrying about himself but his wife and kids that will need to deal with him.

That's right,my sister-in-law has it and she's as happy as can be. It's her husband and kids that are in it for the long haul.

I don't want that for my family but it is all out of my control I guess.

Thanks for the link----will check it out.

Some of this stuff may be too late for folks my age but I hope my kids' and grandkids' generations have more hope.

My mother died at 91 and I wouldn't give you a nickel for her last 10 years-----awful!

My Aunt has been suffering from alzheimer's disease. After seeing what she has been going through I hope they come up with something soon.

Amyloid plaques are suspended in the jelled substance surrounding the brain stem. So far there is nothing strong enough to penetrate that substance and break up the plaque without destroying the shield itself.
