That picture of Rehnquist makes me all teary-eyed. You can tell this man is going through incredible pain... and yet his pride is incredible as well--no wheelchairs, no assistance other than a cane. His strength of will and determination got him up there today. May God limit his suffering, and may God find a replacement that can eventually fill his shoes.

They made the hand jesture that you describe when the University of Texas (Jenna's alma matter) Marching Band was passing. It is a UT thing -- the UT mascot is the Longhorn, and the hand signal is the head / horns of the Longhorn steer. The person giving the hand signal sometimes simultaneously yells "hook'em horns."
