If he's such a big supporter and most Freepers are only finding out now, he obviously isn't putting the effort into making his voice heard as any of the Hollywood libs.
And the WH doesn't NEED has been celebrities, the last election proved that.
Nor do I believe The WH controlled the inviaation list for all these balls.
Excuse me.
I want PROOF.
I know there was a big event made over Kid Rock but I recall no controversy about Hopper. I wasn't even aware he would be in attendence.
I thought Kid Rock should be invited and was in disagreement with those that sought to keep him out, but I find it suprising to learn after the fact similiar trouble was expressed about Hopper and we are only learning of it NOW.
Give me proof. Maybe it's so, maybe it isn't. I want evidence either way as I find it difficult to believe this wouldn't have come to our attention earlier.
This just doesn't ring true. If the ball was held by the Creative Coalition, then it seems to me that they would be the ones that controlled the invitations.
Why did they do this? If he was a hardcore supporter of Bush? This is worse than not getting invited at all!
The ugly side of Republicanism. I see it here on FR more than makes me comfortable.
geez...who are the anally retentive handling this sort of things?
Nah. I don't buy this. Something else is going on. Let's find out what it is like we always have...
The report from the Freedom Ball: warm champagne and $5 beer. At the Patriot Ball, one disgruntled reveler complained, "There's no beef. There's no shrimp. This is the worst ball I've ever been to."
Hill Harper, an actor on "CSI New York," attended a sold-out event hosted by the Creative Coalition, a nonpartisan advocacy group for actors, writers, singers and other members of the entertainment industry.
Harper looked at an empty dance floor at 10:45 p.m.: "It doesn't seem like the most exciting crowd. Maybe we'll see some table dancing, maybe some stripping, maybe somebody will show some leg." - Friday, January 21, 2005 · Last updated 12:00 a.m. PT Bush dashes through night of celebrations
According to a New York Post source, Hopper was uninvited after religious groups complained about his dubious history, but a friend said he didn't go because of work reasons. Variety, however, said Hopper's appearance was KO'd because wife Victoria Duffy was a Kerry supporter.-Posted on Fri, Jan. 21, 2005 THE BUZZ
They report, you decide !
Second, Dennis Hopper has done a lot of good film work other than in "Easy Rider." He was particularly good as "Shooter," the alcoholic father of a high school basketball player in the movie, "Hoosiers."
wow first kid rock now dennis hopper. Why if the republicans keep this up every single actor, actress, singer and film producer in hollywood will bust thier hump every day for a year in 2008 to make sure the republicans win the next election becasue they know thier loyalty in the face of the opposition of everyone in thier industry will be duly noted and rewarded by the repubs. This is the best strategy ive ever heard about and kudos to everyone of these marketing albert einstiens for finally putting to rest the myth that the republicans are being held hostage by a bunch of gap toothed backwoods southern baptist evangelicals. WAY TO GO PREZ BOO YA !!!!!!
I tried to apologize,(and pass a business card sales pitch style), but his ugly manager with a clipboard said "not now sir!"... she didn't want any attention.
That's when I yelled out, "ARE YOU DENNIS HOPPER?"
:)
he is in the new Romero zombie film "Land of the Dead" due next october. I would have invited him for that alone.
He supports the troops but not the President. There is a difference.
Hopper deserves a personal audience with the pres
This little bash was an unofficial ball and the PIC has no control over it.
It would be akin to the PIC calling jwalsh07 and telling me not to attned the FR ball. I tell them to kiss my ass and done.
If we had a "BS" thread, this would be on it by now, folks. Maybe you should quit eating each other and go after the libs.
Now, which group will you all pigeonhole me into with that? Am I a "gap-toothed backwoods Southern Baptist type"? Perhaps I am a member of the "Taliban Wing", whatever the hell that is. Am I a "Theocon"? Did James Dobson or Joseph Farah put me up to it?
No. All I can say is that the lurkers watching you eat various components of your own (all of which we all need) must be delighted. The regionalist, anti-religious dialogue of some of you is exactly identical to that of the far left. What is going on here is wrong, and you can't honestly sit here and tell me that cutting off any group of the party or movement is beneficial at all. If you go either way, you will alienate large swaths of the population. It's really a flash in the pan, this Hopper affair, and I'll bet you dollars to donuts its just a tabloid rumor aimed at fracturing our community. For all you know the guy might have had a problem and they did this to save him the trouble of explaining it.
Who's Joe Pantoliano trying to fool. My wife and I used to watch his show "The Handler". It got canceled and I felt bad for him until I read some horrible comments he has made about The President. Here he is trying to sound all innocent.
My big question: Why should anyone care about someone just because they are an actor or actress? I know - fame and fortune - but I am continually amazed at how society deifies sports and movie figures.
