Bush sends Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims around world:

[World News]: Washington, Jan 22 : US President George W Bush has greeted Muslims around the world on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, saying that the "kindness and charity" practiced by the community during this period exemplify the "compassionate spirit" that makes the world a better place.

"I send greetings to Muslims around the world as you celebrate Eid al-Adha. Abraham's sacrifice and service to God teach us the importance of devotion, and God's mercy encourages us to share His blessings with others," Bush said in a statement.

He said the "kindness and charity practiced by Muslims during this holiday strengthen friendships, help those in need, and exemplify the compassionate spirit that makes America and the world a better place.

"As Americans of Muslim faith celebrate Eid al-Adha, our nation is reminded of the contributions that Muslim Americans have made to our religious and cultural heritage. Your values of family, service, and community enrich our society and reflect the ideals on which our country was founded." Bush said his wife Laura joins him "in sending our best wishes for a joyous celebration." PTI

Thanks for the link. The White House does send Easter greetings. Here is one from 2001:

Easter, 2001

I am pleased to send warm greetings to all those observing Easter. On this day, Christians around the world join in celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Son of Man.

For Christians everywhere, Easter is a day when, in the words of the ancient Exultet hymn, the earth "rejoices in shining splendor, radiant in the brightness of its King." It is a time to be humbled by and grateful for God's sacrifice and boundless love and to rejoice in the sheer wonder of life and the promise of victory over death.

Easter comes at the end of the Lenten season, a period of penitence and solemnity in many Christian traditions. The Lenten season prepares Christ' s followers for the joyous affirmation that "Christ is Risen!" Holy Week activities, including Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Good Friday, remind the faithful of the events leading up to Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.

Many traditions associated with Easter have become a part of our American way of life. Although these customs may differ, the universal message of Easter draws all Christian communities together. As families and friends gather to celebrate, we renew our commitment to follow the example of Jesus Christ in loving our neighbors and giving of ourselves for others. On this joyous day, let us also remember all those in need and those Christians around the world who are persecuted for their faith.

Laura joins me in sending best wishes for a wonderful Easter.

GEORGE W. BUSH

Somebody in the White House must see to it that all these holiday greetings are sent out--and write the greetings. You notice the word "joyous", the mention of giving, and the very similar last sentence?

" 'the contributions that Muslim Americans have made to our religious and cultural heritage. .' Such as?"

Wasn't there a news item about Muslims killing lambs in some sort of Islamic ritual? That is something Muslims have "contributed".

Or maybe the New Jersey slayings?

Inside information on the New Jersey murders

A close friend of the Coptic Christian brutally murdered in New Jersey along with his family, Hossam Armanious, is the source of this information, which comes to you exclusively from Jihad Watch:

The Armanious family had inspired several Muslims to convert to Christianity - or thought they had. These "converts" were actually practicing taqiyya , or religious deception, pretending to be friends of these Christians in order to strengthen themselves against them, as in Qur'an 3:28: "Let believers not make friends with infidels in preference to the faithful -- he that does this has nothing to hope for from Allah -- except in self-defense."

It was these "converts" who knocked on the door of the Armanious home. Of course, the family, not suspecting the deception, was happy to see the "converted" men and willingly let them in to their home. That's why there was no sign of forced entry. Then the "converted" Muslims did their grisly work.

I'd say their families might be somewhat circumspect.

Bush said ""kindness and charity practiced by Muslims during this holiday"

See the bombings of the Shiite mosque in Baghdad and the wedding...that very day.

Just out of curiosity...did the president wish all the Orthodox Christians around the world a merry Christmas on January 6th?

I understand the political necessity of making such a statement, but:

1) Such a greeting is an insult to the victims of Islam throughout the world - our potential allies.

2) Muslims don't believe Bush is sincere, anyway.

Ugh. How horrible. I haven't heard those grisly details before. Violent Muslims have an elastic sense of "self-defense".
