One of the largest Hamas bomb factories found in the West Bank in the past three years was discovered early Sunday morning by security forces in the basement of an inhabited apartment building in Nablus's Raffidiyah neighborhood.
In the framework of ongoing activities to destroy the Hamas infrastructure in the city, soldiers from the Haruv Battalion surrounded the building after receiving intelligence on its location late Saturday night.
Searching the premises, the soldiers discovered 25 kilograms of explosives that had been dried and placed underneath mattresses, an additional 125 liters of raw materials used to prepare explosives and bombs, three partially prepared explosives belts, electronic detonators and other components. Troops later blew up the factory rooms without damaging the rest of the building.
"Without a doubt the discovery of the factory prevented a number of terror attacks," Lt.-Col. Nohi, the battalion commander said. "The terrorists' motivation remains high, and that is why a blockade around the city remains intact."
He noted that his soldiers also participated in the raid against the Hamas infrastructure in the city in which 14 fugitives were arrested last week. The raid thwarted attempts to launch a number of suicide bombings.
Among the most senior fugitives arrested was Hamed Salim Amadi, 30, incarcerated in Israel and involved in shooting attacks at settlements in the West Bank and in coordinating between the different cells.
Samer Taher Yamouni, 36, was also incarcerated in Israel, and was considered the deputy commander in the area, having recruited activists and assisted in setting up bomb factories.
Kamal Ratrot, 31, who assisted in setting up bomb factories, and Hashem Hakrouri, 30, who instructed Tanzim activists on how to make explosives and bombs, were also arrested.
The army noted that to improve its capability, Hamas members linked up with members of the Fatah Tanzim to perpetrate suicide bombings.

Allahu Fubar!
People forget that if Israel finds these factories there is human intelligence. Obviously some are tired of living in anarchy.
What is Fatah Tanzim? Anyone know?
I have never heard of that group before.
