Abu Ghraib Guard Tells Story to '20/20'
ABC News.com ^

Jan. 20, 2005 — Spc. Sabrina Harman, one of seven Army Reservists charged in the abuse of prisoners in Iraq's Abu Ghraib prison, told "20/20" she wishes she could apologize to the Iraqi people, but doesn't think she did anything wrong while she was stationed as a guard at the prison.

Photos of prisoners shown stripped naked, piled atop one another, being humiliated and abused, shocked the world and drew international condemnation. Harman, 27, said she never hurt anyone, but she was involved with some of the prison scandal's most iconic photos. In one of those photos, Harman is seen smiling behind a pyramid of naked prisoners.

The reservist is also charged with being involved with another of the most disturbing images — a hooded prisoner standing atop a box with wires attached to his arms. Although Harman says the prisoner, nicknamed Gilligan, was not tortured or beaten, she acknowledges he was subject to sleep deprivation, one technique used to tire prisoners so they can be successfully interrogated. "He was only interrogated for three days. He wasn't beaten or anything like that. It was just stress positions, holding boxes, standing on boxes — and he could just not be broke. Like he was pretty much laughing at us," she told "20/20's" Elizabeth Vargas in an exclusive interview airing Friday night at 10 p.m. ET.

I saw this story on Friday night-it was disgusting! This soldier (a trained military policeman no less) claimed that she was not trained in the laws of war and the obligation of a soldier not to follow an illegal order. I recieved this training 1) in Basic Training; 2) in my Officer Basic Course; and 3) at Fort Polk, LA before deploying to Iraq! What this story conveniently buries way down in the body of the story is that the soldier in question is a practicing lesbian. She was shown prominently on 20/20 holding hands and cuddling with her "partner". Doesn't that mean she can now be prosecuted for violating the "Don't ask, Don't Tell" policy as well?

She's innocent. We all know gays cannot do anything like hate crimes or torture...their hearts are as clean as the wind driven snow :)

You must be wrong about this aspect of her sexuality. It is a well known fact that lesbians and homosexual males are actually paragons of virtue, and would never stoop to such brazenly illegal behavior such as the hazing torture these poor innocent Iraqis went through.

A true lesbo-homo would never denigrate one of the Islamic faith, as they respect that religion. It is only Christians they rightfully despise and persecute.

Was she trained in the laws of simple human decency? That training would have precluded her behavior.

Her attempt to evade and even shift responsibility indicates that she may well be resistant to training, so it wouldn't matter if she'd been to the War College. She'd have done whatever felt right at the moment.

She's a lesbian, the leader was a prison guard in the USA who had been brought up on prison abuse charges more than once. The one chick who got pregnant by him sure looks like she might like the girl on 20/20.

Looks like this was a private, arrogant little group who disgraced the USA and could care less.

Brought to you by "America should bend over, grab her ankles, and take it up the ass from the rest of the world without complaining" MSM in America.

Here's a news flash for you treasonous cowards, fagots and lesbians in the MSM: Your still losing! ... and you'll always be losers in the game of life.

No offense.

Has this little sweetheart had her court martial yet?

If not, I'm sure the public statements she made on 20-20 will come back to haunt her big time.

This is a different soldier than the one who got pregnant (Lyndie England). This soldier was the one seen in the photos smiling behind the pyramid of naked Iraqis...

My previous message says England probably liked the lesbian who appeared on 20/20. All these folks have emotional problems and total disregard for rules and ethics.
