Assyrian neighbors with family in Baghdad, one of whom is an Arabic translator for the local Assyrian community helping to prepare people for the upcoming election.

That is interesting as well. Do the Assyrian's have a party to represent their community? If not, with which group have the cast their lot? The Kurds? The Shiites? The Sunni's?

Yes, there are a couple actually. Many Assyrians are also apparently supporting Allawi because his Shiite/Sunni alliance is relatively secular and inclusive of all of Iraqs population groups. As is to be expected, there is also a socialist party which has gained a little bit of support from younger Assyrian expats who have grown up among the leftists in the US and Europe.
