How about logistic reasons, related to the biggest Jewish population in Europe.

I know, I know - you mean those Poles who are 1/3 of total number of the Righteous Among the Nations of the World nominated by the Yad Vashem Institue (maybe the name is different in English, I've translated it literally from Polish, but I think you know what I mean).
And - what is very important - this was regardless the fact, that Poland was the only country in occupied Europe, in which there was just one penatly for hiding or helping a Jew - death for the helper and his entire family.

I do believe it, as Warsaw is located in Poland (and even more - If you didn't know - it is Polish capital city). And you may find interesting, that before WW2 it was the city with second in the world - after New York City - Jewish population. What do yo think, maybe it had something to do with the Germans' decision to locate the ghetto there.
