"President Bush looks like he has a secret he is just busting out to tell...he's very upbeat...very confident...one wonders.....as the elections get closer....is there a BIG NEWS ITEM we are going to hear about?"

I thought the same thing when he first stepped up to the podium....he had a little smirk on his face that didn't go away for long thoughout the news conference.

One of the best PCs he's ever conducted. Of course, Katie and Russert are immediately telling us what the REAL deal is.

Meek, if you don't mind, when you hear what the President is announcing (or what this is about), let me know...

The Iraqi elections will go forward January 30th was his main message, just as I expected.

He also mentioned his proposal for Social Security private accounts for youngsters.

Big stuff goin' on, and Bush is tacking the BIG STUFF in his second administration!

Yes! SPEND that political capital, President Bush! :^D

Cracked me up that Barbara Boxer's senate speeches show her so exorcised over Condi lying. That coward Dayton's speech was even more hypocritical, he was so upset that a public official had lied. hee hee..Democrats have selective irateness, don't they?

I like the idea of President Bush stealing the senate's thunder this morning. While Biden blathers on and on, the media's attention is on a Presidential Press Conference.

Oh, I was going to take a break but thanks to your post went to CSPAN2 in time to see Biden arching his eyebrows making one of his faces that is supposed to convey folksiness.

LOL

David Gregory, looking suspiciously like Homer Simpson, looks concerned, deeply concerned.

Yes, it was one of Bush's best press conferences. He was on fire, adamant, visionary and relaxed. The press must be feeling like they swallowed a carp. lol

After the conference, ABC (Jennings) and CBS (Rather) immediately went into "deathtoll mode", reminding everyone how terrible things are in Iraq and how there's no chance for peaceful elections. The horror, the horror ...

I started one of my calls to Bayh with "Does Senator Bayh hate ALL blacks or just black women?"

I think Bayh's staffers are quite surprised and frustrated with the calls. They hemmed and hawed and stammered.

When the staffer said Bayh will not support Rice because of accountability I asked when was Bayh accountable for all the terrorist attacks in the 90's under his watch. I also asked where is the accountability of Kennedy who drove a woman off a bridge and left her there to die or the accountability of Byrd who was a leader in the KKK.

No reply, I just got transfered to Kennedy.

Bayh upset me more than anyone yesterday because I feel I was conned. I am not from Indiana but on FR I have often stated what a stand-up guy I thought he was among the dems. Boy, when I'm wrong I am wrong

Bayh = 202-224-5623

The NBC crew was extremely agitated by the lack of respect the Prez showed the mighty elites today.

Where were you guys last November when Bayh was running for re-election? People have known this stuff about him for a long time. During the impeachment he voted not to impeach X42. The stuff about Bayh goes back a lot longer than just this month.

Yea, like all the press was "disturbed" because Bush's inaugural address didn't center around the fact that we are in a quagmire and losing the war in Iraq. Shameless!!!
