  • Mueller's Press Conference Was a Travesty

    06/01/2019 3:52:35 AM PDT · by Kaslin · 22 replies ^ | May 31, 2019 | Congressman Andy Biggs
Was there ever a more useless press conference than that convened yesterday by former Special Counsel Robert Mueller? Words that came to mind as I watched the travesty were: unnecessary, irresponsible, and perhaps calculating. The first words out of Mueller’s mouth indicated that he had nothing to say that hadn’t already been said in his 400-plus page report. Well, then why did he organize a press conference? If everything he had to say had already been said, then there was absolutely no reason for him to jump in front of the media. If he had a presser, he should have...

Attorney General William Barr will discuss special counsel Robert Mueller's report at a 9:30 a.m. ET press conference on Thursday. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will accompany him, according to NBC News. There was no indication that the report would be released before the press conference. Mueller submitted the report to the Justice Department late last month. Barr will be releasing a redacted version of the approximately 400-page document, which details Mueller's findings about the Trump campaign and Russian interference in the 2016 election. The redacted Mueller report on Russian election meddling is expected to be released to the public...

RUSH: Here it is, folks. My mistake. I pulled out of the press conference too soon. Within two minutes of my leaving the press conference in the last half hour, Jim Acosta at CNN stood up, and this is what happened. THE PRESIDENT: They weren’t actors. They weren’t actors. No, it’s true. Do you think they were actors? They weren’t actors. They didn’t come from Hollywood. These were people — this was an actual — you know, it happened a few days ago. And — Trump grows angry with press, calls Jim Acosta 'rude, terrible person'ACOSTA: They’re hundreds of miles...

President Trump interrupted his speech Wednesday on his Asia trip a couple of times to drink from a bottle of Fiji water — and Sen. Marco Rubio said his drinking game needs some work. When Mr. Rubio, Florida Republican, gave the Republican response to then-President Obama’s State of the Union speech in 2013 — his first big moment in the national spotlight — he interrupted his speech to drink some water. The moment became an internet phenomenon and widely snarked at, a history that led Fox News producer Pat Ward to copy Mr. Rubio on his tweet of the Trump...

Money isn’t an issue for Conor McGregor these days, so he may scoff at the lawsuit he’s been served by a security guard who claims he was hit by a can hurled by McGregor during a press conference ahead of his fight against Nate Diaz last August.-snip-He claims McGregor made $15 million for his fight at UFC 202 with Diaz and that McGregor “significantly” struck Diaz 166 time during the bout. Fifteen million divided by 166 equals about $90,000, plus the $5,000 in medical expenses, and we get $95,000!
  • Time to End Presidential Press Briefings?

Personally, I enjoy watching Sean Spicer spar with the press. It’s good entertainment. But press briefings don’t make sense in 2017. And they certainly don’t make sense for a Trump presidency. I’ll tell you why. The role of press briefings is to create two complementary illusions. The first illusion is that the administration is providing new and useful information. That rarely happens. And when it does, it could have been done more easily in the form of a press release in response to a written inquiry. A written response can be faster than a press briefing because it doesn’t depend...
  • Ann Coulter: Trump’s Press Conference Performance ‘Magnificent’

For those who’ve been subjected to the MSM’s cavalcade of criticism of President Trump’s press conference of yesterday, some welcome relief from Ann Coulter’s corner. On Sean Hannity’s radio show yesterday, chatting with witty and insightful guest host Mark Simone, the inimitable Ann offered up these observations: Trump’s performance was “magnificent”—Ann could watch it “over and over again.” She notes Trump mentioning that CNN is not just all anti-Trump, but “there’s so much hatred for me.” On courts ruling against exec order: it’s as if the New York Times and Salon editors are “running the court system.” Listen to audio...

Morning Joe‘s coverage of President Trump’s press conference of yesterday was predictably apocalyptic. Joe Scarborough and Mike Barnicle asserted that Trump was detached from “reality.” But the most explosive moment came when Scarborough asked who within the White House will go to President Trump and tell him that he’s undercutting his credibility. When Mark Halperin proposed VP Pence for that job, Mika Brzezinski replied: “it’s not happening. He’s waiting to be President.” Was Mika implying that Pence has adopted a conscious strategy of letting President Trump implode so that he can assume the presidency when Trump is driven from office?...

Donald Trump toys with a CNN reporter again, calling his network “very fake news” at today’s epic press conference where he pulled no punches and repeatedly called out the mainstream media for their bias and anti-Trump coverage. CNN’s Jake Tapper, NBC’s Chuck Todd, and Fox News’ Shepard Smith all threw a hissy fit about the way Trump treated the media. Media analyst Mark Dice has the story.

Let’s just JIP it now to get in here while we can. THE PRESIDENT: …doing what I pledge to do. That’s all I’m doing. I put it out before the American people, got 306 Electoral College votes. I wasn’t supposed to get 222. They said, “There’s no way to get 222; 230 is impossible,” 270, which you need? That was laughable. We got 306. Because people came out and voted like they’d...

Stunned by today’s press conference? So were the broadcast and cable news network anchors who led special coverage. Here’s what they had to say right after Pres. Trump finished his remarks: ABC: “What a remarkable window into the state of mind of the President of the United States right there.” – George Stephanopoulos, 2:12 p.m. ET. CBS: “Well, a remarkable news conference…” – Scott Pelley, 2:12 p.m. ET. NBC: “Pres. Thursday following President Donald Trump’s press conference to announce his pick for Labor Secretary, Alexander Acosta, conservative talker Rush Limbaugh applauded Trump’s performance on his nationally syndicated radio show. Limbaugh while the media still won’t warm up to Trump, it was what his supporters wanted to see, which was a willingness to tout his achievements and take on some of the claims from the media.

Following President Trump’s Wednesday press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, NBC News White House correspondent Kristen Welker passive aggressively savaged Christian Broadcast Network’s David Brody and Townhall editor Katie Pavlich for questions to Trump that Welker deemed not to be “tough questions” concerning Mike Flynn. Welker told NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt that it was “striking” to witness the President inform the media that he believe Flynn “was treated unfairly” thanks to “leaks in the media — leaks by the intelligence community to the media.” Welker Passive Aggressively Attacks Brody, Pavlich for Not Asking Trump ‘Tough Questions’ However,...

"I recommend people that have some moral compass." I’ve embedded the entire video of Trump’s presser yesterday, although for this piece I’m focusing mainly on his beatdown of CNN and BuzzFeed, which starts at 1:07:45. Once you get to it, stick with it for awhile, because Trump takes a few questions on other subjects but comes back to the matter several times. He’s got harsh words not only for the media but also for the intelligence community, which he smacks down for constantly running to the press every time they talk to him. To demonstrate this, Trump explains that before...

Gabriel Sherman writes in New York Magazine that President-elect Donald Trump's got the upper hand against the media on Wednesday by turning his first post-election press conference "into a debate over journalistic practices." But observed as spectacle, Trump came away with a resounding victory. That's because Trump won even before he stepped before the microphone, by making the media the story. Last night, BuzzFeed published a salacious 35-page oppo-research dossier on Trump that alleged Russia possessed sexual and financial dirt on Trump that could be used to blackmail him. BuzzFeed justified reporting the unverified oppo-research document - which had been...
