The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

WASHINGTON -- Mosques across the U.S. continue to carry books and pamphlets describing non-Muslims as "infidels" and promoting intolerance against Western society, according to a forthcoming study by Freedom House, a U.S. human-rights group.

Despite vows from American Islamic leaders after Sept. 11, 2001, to proselytize peacefully, New York based Freedom House researchers found 57 documents with incendiary material in more than a dozen mosques and Islamic centers in six states and Washington, D.C., visited over the past year.

Down here also. All I can get from that IP address now is a POP3 service response on port 110 so the server is still online, but they have shut down the FTP service. Interesting that this one referenced a "ribaat.net" for the two email services, versus the other place "ribaat.org".

I recall early-on into the 9/11 investigation that there were images that were sent between the terrorists, that had written info. embeded and hidden behind and in the image. This is probably one of the only stories that I have heard with regard to looking for these hidden messages. And it's happening right in my area to boot!

Have they confirmed that he is the one on the audio? Had a bad thought last night. On many occasions within 60 days of one of his releases, there has been a bad attack. The superbowl is this Sunday..... Something we should be keeping our ears to the ground for, perhaps they may be thinking we'll be letting our guard down after the Inagural and Iraq elections.

Interesting article regarding how AQ is following the path of least resistance. In an earlier post they were worming their way into strife torn portions of oil rich Africa. In the following article exerpt they are focusing upon weaknesses in Europe.

Godzilla, I recall during last years superbowl that there was a piece of 'chatter' saying that it was going to be the last time the star spangled banner would be played, so to speak. i have this very bad feeling that last year was too quiet, they talked about a deathblow over a year ago, but now it seems they may be gearing up for something massive after some operations perhaps were put on hold?

I am not too thrilled with the proximity to where many of the 911 terrorists staged out from (wasn't it somewhere in Florida?). Don't want to cause undue panic, but I am concerned.

Yes, factored in with that map we see often of the 'cells', there seems to be some sort of base in florida also.

I'm also concerned because in all honesty, they could be anywhere.

FBI Shuts Down E-Mail Tip Line (2/4/05)

Security Breach In E-Mail System

Feb 4, 2005 10:40 am US/Eastern WASHINGTON (CBS) CBS News has learned the FBI has been forced to shut down part of the e-mail system it uses to communicate to the outside world because of a security breach.

The FBI is now investigating the intrusion, reports CBS News Producer Stephanie Lambidakis. The agency bought the e-mail accounts through AT&T; according to the FBI, other commercial accounts were affected as well. The email accounts have fbi.gov names.....

MSN Messenger Attacked by Worm (2/4/05)

Anti-virus company TrendMicro is warning that a new variant of the Bropia worm is using MSN Messenger to spread.

Bropia.F is a worm packaged with a second, more dangerous worm that tries to exploit known issues in unpatched computers.

The latest variant was discovered late Wednesday, according to TrendMicro. The virus spreads by sending itself as a picture of a roast chicken with tan lines to all available or online contacts. It also releases the Agabot.ajc virus on the infected PC.

Adam Biviano, a senior systems engineer at Trend Micro, said that although there have only been a handful of reported infections, the company has declared the worm a medium risk, because of its potential to spread and steal users' bandwidth.
