Genes Linked With Male Sexual Orientation Found

The genes a man gets from his mother and father may play an important role in determining whether he is gay or not, according to a new study likely to reignite the “gay gene” debate.

Researchers say it’s the first time the entire human genetic makeup (search) has been scanned in search of possible genetic determinants of male sexual orientation. The results suggest that several genetic regions may influence homosexuality.

“It builds on previous studies that have consistently found evidence of genetic influence on sexual orientation, but our study is the first to look at exactly where those genes are located,” says researcher Brian Mustanski, PhD, a psychologist at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Those previous studies looked only at the genes located on the X chromosome (search). Genes on this chromosome are only passed to a son from his mother. But this study examined genetic information on all chromosomes, including genes from the father.

It'll be disproven. Sample size is too small to discount the possibility of the results being due to chance. Plus, we've been lied to by researchers promoting homosexuality before, no reason to assume these are telling the truth.

Bingo!

They refer to no specific genes or "gene numbers". They find the highest mlod score to chromosome 7q36 -- but it is not significant.

They actually found absolutely no linkage between a chromosomal region and the trait they are trying to study.

Speaking of darwin...

Isn't a fundamental rule of genetics broken here: if you don't have children, won't your genetic traits die with you?

Up until recently, the likelihood of gays having children was nil. Especially, including all of human history.

Of course, there were those who were bisexual. However, you would expect that eventually there would be fewer and fewer of them too.

The wrecking crew you had a hand in putting together is pretty efficient at bringing this kind of structure down with very little effort.

If one were to believe what they say,of course they will be delighted to find it is genetic and they will want all monies dedicated to eliminating the flawed gene.

Haven't we heard the cry of the homosexual? Some say it indignantly, others, plaintively, but all use it to justify and prove the need for society to accept their homosexual activity, absorb their higher medical costs and support homosexual marriages.

If I had a dollar for every time I have heard them or one of their sympathizers ask: "Do you really think I/they/anyone would choose to be this way?",I would be a rich woman. Always honest, never popular,I reply:" Yes,I think many people would and do choose it".

But seriously, I agree with you the "community" would be in an uproar. I do think there might be a chance that a small proportion of homosexuals may have had mothers that took some hormones or medication that caused some genetic abnormality. Those folks would be happy if a cause was found,I bet.

Perhaps pro-lifers will consider the gay gene adequate cause to abort.

Doubt it. We have let the 'stupid comment' gene go for so long...

When men have sex with other men in prison is this due to the "gay gene"? And when they get out and resume sex with women this is due to what?

"Gene" went under the US Government protection plan and moved to California or Massachusetts

Interesting does this mean the PRIOR gene number (it escapes me at this moment) is now officially disproven?

The whole face reminds me of a bad magicial card trick repeatedly asking "is this your card? no!? issss this your card? no!? ok, issss this your card? no!? issss this ...."

This is only about keeping "the controversy open" because we are making progress at persuading the public that choice is the dominant factor in the homosexual behavior.

It also is odd that the We Are Family homo-video/mandatory pledge is coming out in a few days. We Are Family is taking the position of "born homo" so this so called study dovetails quite nicely with the propaganda. (reminds me of hitler's aryan genes are better manure)

Reseaches HAVE in fact found the cause. But instead of a cure, these lefties wnat to encourage it!

THe cause was found by many researchers to be introduction to the gay lifestyle at an early age.

If they do isolate a 'gay" gene that can be discerned in utero it will spell the end of both RvW and the democratic party.

Second, might the increased percentage be due to the fact that THESE PEOPLE ARE RELATED TO EACH OTHER.

That's what I am asking myself. WOuldn't they find those same similarities in any brothers? gay or not?

I believe that most if not all homosexual men have those tendencies mostly due to experience, that is molestation. The younger the child is molested (of course typically it is a male doing the molesting) the more likely the child will have these tendencies. Children older than 13 or more are less likely.

Two gay men I knew in college were both molested as children, one by an uncle the other by someone who was suppose to protect him. The guy molested by his uncle specifically brought up that incident to me. I said ".. but boys don't have sexual feelings" and he replied "..you don't know you just don't know."

Other things I've heard have backed this up, such as a news story about a neighbor who molested many of the young boys in the neighbor. The man was arrested but the pain didn't end there. Later, two of the young boys who were molested were caught giving each other oral sex in a tub by their parents. You can't tell me they would have been doing this if they hadn't been molested.

Further, I'd also heard that almost all if not all child molesters were victims of molestation themselves. This is not to say that all children who are molested become molesters themselves. However, once again a learned behavior.

The fact is that if someone’s first sexual experience is as a child with someone of the same sex then that person is very likely to identify sexual feelings with people of the same sex. These sexual feelings would feel natural for them because their experience is at such an early age.

Protect your kids.
