Well, I apologize if I jumped on you unfairly. But plenty of people around here continually misstate what Bush does or has said.

Naw I didn't think you were jumping on me. You did the right thing. I should have qualified my rant. I do not accept your unnecessary apology. There was no way of knowing I was only half kidding. Reading my past posts might have made you believe I was being serious. I personally don't think that even our fearless leader has the political balls to get fully behind the Fair Tax.

Wouldn't that money be more effectively used by the border patrol? YES, YES YES! The question now is WHY there isn't more border security. Your "Two-Party Cartel" again sucking the livlyhood from the people & providing us a less secure nation. 80% plus want the opposite from the pols that we elect. Shows ya how much they listen to us but they know that 99% are re-elected each cycle.

Bush has to steal more - he's spending like he's drunk. So he needs more thugs desperately.

You're right - it was a silly assertion.
Bush has no plans to actually abolish any aspect of Big Stupid Government. In fact, he's busily making it bigger and bigger.

My father retired in 1994 after 41 years as a revenue officer with the IRS. Wow, what a waste. You only get one time around on this ride, after all. I sincerely hope he found something productive to do with his life in retirement.

Actually Hank, I don't think he wasted anything. He put three sons through college, one is now a CPA, one a pharmacist, and one in law enforcement. Wile we wore JC Penny plain pockets jeans and paid for our school lunches (even though we qualified for free lunches based upon his income), my friends on the free lunch program all wore Izod and Polo clothes and had new motorcycles. After retirement he took up golf and got a college degree. I might also add that even 10 years after retirement, he still is a respected member of the community (after serving 30+ years as an IRS agent in a small town of 36,000!). The problem with the IRS now, is thanks to affirmative action and other social problems, they can't hire the best people to do the job (after college I had a 3.8 Accounting/Criminal Justice GPA and couldn't even get the time of day from them. Instead they hired certain individuals with Home Economics degrees-true story!). For example, I once got a letter from an IRS service center about my tax rebate that a 3rd grader could have done a better job writing (and the answer was wrong to boot)!

You speak like 1. an illegal immigrant 2. someone who promotes open borders. 3. a liberal
Is that the best you've got? You sound ill-informed with nothing but boilerplate platitudes to respond with.
Is it NOT a "national attitude." It's not the Number One issue with people who don't have tunnel vision.
You have intestinal fortitude on this issue. Pay attention to the news. I see it everywhere I look. Guess it is part of my "tunnel vision". If it were possible to take a poll here I think you would have a good idea of where you and bayourod stand on the issue.

After retirement he took up golf and got a college degree. That must have been quite refreshing; glad he finally got to the fun stuff. After 41 years of mind-numbing forms, regulations, grey desks and the lack of opportunity to create cool/necessary/tasty/fun things that actually please customers who have free choice to be a customer or not - I bet it was like opening a door to a sunny meadow.
It's hard to imagine looking back on 41 years of processing IRS paperwork; to me, the stuff of nightmares. Have you ever asked him if he dreamt of moving on and doing something else?

No-he was too dedicated i guess (besides without a college degree his options were limited). Over the years he did tax returns for hundreds of people (relatives, elderly, indigents, friends, etc.) at home after hours and never asked for (or recieved) a dime. He probably could have moved up into management but decided he wanted family stability more than promotion. The really funny thing is, now that he is retired, he won't even do his own taxes!

And I have no idea what that means. You have no idea "where I stand" on this issue, only assumptions and platitudes.
