WASHINGTON, Feb. 1 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Media Matters for America sent a letter yesterday (January 31) to White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan asking him to consider revoking the White House press credentials apparently granted to Jeff Gannon, the Washington bureau chief and White House correspondent for Talon News, a self-proclaimed news organization that in reality is little more than a partisan activist group.
On the heels of the growing scandal surrounding the Bush administration's use of fake "news" reports, the hiring of conservative columnists to promote its policies without public disclosure, and payola to conservative commentators, Media Matters for America suggested that McClellan consider the implications of credentialing a partisan operative disguised as a journalist in the White House press briefings.
Following is the text of the letter Media Matters for America President and CEO David Brock sent to McClellan

"...consider the implications of credentialing a partisan operative disguised as a journalist..."
Like 90% of the liberal news media that shills for the Democrat party?
By this logic, McClellan should be revoking the credentials of the NYT, the LA Slimes, the Washington ComPost and the alphabet networks too!
Not to mention those 'objective' (laugh-chuckle-snort) pundits from 'Media Matters', LMAO!
As Opinion Journal's James Taranto put it recently:
"MediaMatters.org--tirelessly exposing conservative bias by conservative commentators for over 1/129th of a century."
My My Jim what is the world comeing too, hiring conservative news men to report on the White House. Tsk Tsk
my thoughts exactly. I'd suggest pulling the credentials for NPR first. As an organization *paid for* by government money, they would have a clear conflict of interest and should have their credntials yanked immediately.
LOL...David Brock is one to talk!
While he's at it, he can show that dreadful old hag Helen Thomas the door!
Jeff is getting a lot of free publicity. As if anybody at the whitehouse cares what some bunch of lunatic lefty monkeys thinks...
"a self-proclaimed news organization that in reality is little more than a partisan activist group"
As if that doesn't describe just about EVERY news organization in the friggin' country. What a joke. Looks like the libs are trying to shut the conservatives up in the media now. How long before they're going to start intimidating blogs and places like FR?
and she broke it.
And how many mirrors?
That woman's got a head like a busted a*sehole.
I think NPR needs to have all of its press credentials revoked
What a joke! Media Matters can go to hell! Are these people crazy? All left wing reporters should be banned. They should have to get their news second hand from someone who can report just the facts. That witch Helen Thomas should have been kicked out years ago!
Media matters seems to be under the mistaken impression that they make press policy for this administration. Why on earth would it be any of their business in the first place?
Brock: Sit down, shut up, take notes, report...and try to get it right.
Sounds like CBS.
Sounds like CBS.
Use the plagiarism software that professors employ to check students' termpapers to trace the MediaMatters press releases during the campaign directly into the words and stories that quickly appeared in the MSM. I've informally traced several. IT'S A MAJOR EXPOSE TO BE HAD of the mimeo machine that much of the MSM is for the DNC/Kerry/Soros campaign.
LOL, as if 90% of the other reporters who have White House credentials aren't partisan leftist operatives disguised as journalist who attend the White House press briefings?
ROFLMAO, I bet Media Matters thinks Helen Thomas is fair and balanced :-)
Media Matters for America is a Web-based, not-for-profit progressive research and information center dedicated to comprehensively monitoring, analyzing, and correcting conservative misinformation in the U.S. media. Conservative misinformation is defined as news or commentary presented in the media that is not accurate, reliable, or credible and that forwards the conservative agenda.
For the first time, Media Matters for America has put in place a system to monitor the media for conservative misinformation -- every day, in real time -- in 2004 and beyond.
No political bias there.... no sirreee Bob, no bias there
Thanks a million for posting this!
A group that issues a press release with the word "payola" in it wants to be taken seriously? I can't seriously think of the last time I used that word, but I bet it was sometime before I entered high school.
Get bent, Brock.
OMG, wouldn't you just D-I-E if Christopher Hitchens went after you like he went after Brock in that article????
Can you be "pistol whipped" with a word processor?
"Can you be "pistol whipped" with a word processor?"
LOL...seems so! Or maybe in Brock's case, "bi+ch-slapped".
A very deserving thrashing if I've ever seen one.
Limbaugh's talking about this now, and having a lot of fun at the MSM's expense.
When I vist DU, they can't stop talking about the VWRC in the media; Fox and Murdoch. How they own ^all^ the propaganda tools and the left (well, the way-far-out left) has no voice in the MSM. The VWRC controls it all!
Now, this one correspondent needs to get tossed from the WH press corps so that...what?...the other VWRC reporters can ask questions? Wassupwiddat?
Doesn't saying things like "softball questions during a contentious press briefing" just indicate that *their* ideologues and sycophants are actually the rest of the corps?
Democrats: Being consistent in their inconsistencies.
