STATE OF THE UNION -- 2005 [Live Thread]
2/2/05

Posted on 02/02/2005 3:43:44 PM PST by Timeout

The pre-spin: Bush will spend about 1/2 the speech on foreign policy, 1/2 on domestic, with heavy emphasis on Social Security reform. It's said he will provide a detailed tutorial on the SS system and its problems with a few details on his personal accounts proposal.

Laura's guests are said to be an Afghan voter and an Iraqi voter (too bad there's no Ukrainian wearing an orange hat!).

Should we start a drinking game on how many times the pool camera swings to Hillary? Hmmm. Probably not...it would likely hamper out typing ability.

Word on the blogs has it that the closing part of the speech is a hum-dinger. Set your VCR's.

Report here on outrageous MediaCrat spin before AND after the SOTU. Pictures and screen caps welcome.

I was floored to learn from John Kerry that Social Security is solvent. And Harry Reid said that it will be in "fine" shape for the next 50 years.

(We should really get that video and save it for later use.)

Well, the way I see the electoral county map, if we simply trip the major fault lines out west, New California will be nicely red.

Works for me :-)

Reporting from fly-over country northern Minnesota.

President Bush will be in FARGO,ND tomorrow. Tickets to the event sold out in 90 minutes (faster than a rock concert)!!! People are peeved that he did not get a larger auditorum for more people.

Today on the local call-in show people were talking about getting some purple ink for their index finger!!! Big time media will be here tomorrow -- hopefully there will be PURPLE FINGERS galore raised in solidarity with IRAQ

I heard on the radio that the President planned to introduce an Iraqi citizen who voted. This Iraqi is suppose to stand and wave his/her blue stained finger to the world.

Now THAT's fabulous!

Much better than Congress critters waving purple digits! And I hope it's a woman :)

A truly brainless person.

And, I'm sure, a constituency to perfectly matched to her.

Right, I just didn't know how frequent...I didn't want my inbox clogging up with pings every time President Bush gave a speech, since I'm on the road a lot.

But if it's just important stuff like this, you betcha, I'd like to be on the list. Thanks.

Howlin, is Ron Reagan on Hardball? I'm not going over there if he is. Can't stand him.

Not to mention that being nice to the fairer sex is something that a gentleman does.

Actually, that would be pretty neat in a group like that. It would certainly give the President a smile. And, well, blue ink, blue ox country...

The Dems will say that it was Rove's idea.

I found FR when the stress of the campaign was getting to me. These people made me feel so much better. Been here ever since.

The worst time I ever had on FR was the night of the first debate. The thread was inundated with trolls, newbies and naysayers. It was the most depressing thread I have ever read.

Just beware on threads dealing with major events like this. The DUers are known to infiltrate during these times.

Crazy Al.........Remember his arm-waving speech about "Everything UP is Down, and Everything Down is UP"?

And every "truth" they tell is a lie, and every "good" they promote is evil.

When I heard Crazy Al give that speech, all I could think of was Blood, Sweat & Tears Spinning Wheel

o/` o/`
What goes up must come down
Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round
Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin...
o/` o/`
