Apocryphal.

And exactly backwards. The penalty for robbery from the person was always death in England until the penal reforms of the 19th century. In fact, simple theft over the value of 10 shillings would get you hanged.

"Nobody cares when criminals kill each other over "turf", they only care when innocent bystanders like this girl are cut down."

True, Quite frankly scum of the earth wether what they choose to do is legal or not already have the horrid disposition to kill children, adults or animals that get in their way. It's not a matter of how, it's a matter of when.

Those aren't the lost liberties I'm talking about. As I said, save your sorrow for lost liberties that you don't even know you've lost.

Hahah, yeah I'll do that..

I hate it when I lose things I never noticed or knew that I had or needed or cared about.

"Imagining what she endured in her last hours is a nightmare."

Prayer on the way for the family. May the God of all comfort surround them.

She is safe in the hands of the Lord.

I'll give you some hints: mandatory reporting to the government of your cash transactions "secure in your papers and effects...", presumption that "excess" amounts of cash in your possession indicates criminal activity "nor shall private property be taken...", the ancillary War On Guns "the right to keep and bear arms" - there are many others. Go ahead and whistle past the graveyard; you're still alive, right?

You're obsessed with drugs. Everything, all problems, goes back to drugs being illegal.

Madness. Again, I'm sorry for you. Big cash movements can be signs of terrorist activities too. I suppose the WOT is a huge burden on you as well?

If you think the WOD is bad, why aren't you complaining even more about the WOT and Patriot Act?

Keep whistling. Suits you better than debating me. Gravestones are for other people.

Incidentally, this is a drug-related thread - makes it more appropriate to talk about WO(s)D here than WOT or PATRIOT act. Please see the terms of service.

(But whatever you do, don't investigate what Jim Robinson's position on the WO(s)D is - it might upset you.)

I know what he thinks about it. He's wrong on this topic. Big deal.

But anyway, I was just pointing out how you are very selective about drugs when it comes to legality. I see you constantly being pro-drug freedom, but not really saying much else.

Such libertarian ideals may seem nice, but a lot of people think communism sounds nice too. Problem is of course, both are impractical.

I'm very selective on everything when it comes to freedom: the government's proper role, in my opinion, is to protect life, liberty and property. 99+% of what it does today is outside those boundaries, whether it is killing innocent people, violating liberties in the name of "freedom," or in transferring wealth from one subset of the population to another, always taking a cut for itself in the process. Drug warriors and gun grabbers are among the lowest forms of life in a country founded on individual rights and limited government with specifically enumerated powers.

Criminals are scum too, of course, but governments should remove these people from society, not create conditions that make them thrive, for example, The Prohibition that gave organized crime its first solid foothold in this country, gave birth to the BATF, and got corrupt crime families like the Kennedys into political power. We're still living with those particular disgusting legacies 70 years later. Yes, they killed a few gangsters and imprisoned a few more, but they spawned a lot more than they removed, and they're still with us today. Most people have the intellectual honesty to admit that The Prohibition was a big mistake - even Congress repealed it. But now we're in Prohibition II, and the outlook is no better. And you support it. I'm afraid things will get a lot worse before they get better. A LOT worse. People like you will be welcoming the changes. Whistling past the graveyard, as I said.

I agree with you on gun grabbing.

However, when it comes to drugs I blame the criminals involved.. The users and the dealers. They are to be blamed 100% for all the misery that goes along with drug use (whether it's legal or illegal). This includes all the expense it takes to take care of the mess they make of their lives and violence they do to support their sick habits.

If you think meth or herion's going to be legalized, or even SHOULD be, again I just feel sorry for you. Very sorry.

They should put him in general population.

And in my opinion he is one sob that it would be a pleasure to either shoot or hang.

I think ending Prohibition was a good move---much better than blaming drinkers and dealers. What do you think?

So why is ending the prohibition of one drug (alcohol) any better an idea than ending the prohibition of other drugs?

Because not all drugs are equal. Isn't that intuitively obvious?
