Good.
They can't smoke either in doors. I think one of those corporations moved out of NYC just for this reason. It was either Phillip Morris or RJReynolds.
bump
Another Freak RINO traitor
I'll add him to the list
*Mike Bloomberg Republican pushed a city ban before the state and is the ultimate anti-smoking Nazi
*NYC Councilman Odo (Staten Island) a Republican who introduced the city ban .
*All 38 Republican NYS Senators voted for the ban (It should be noted that the GOP has a big 38-24 majority in that chamber)
*George Pataki Republican governor signed it.
*John Rowland Republican Governor Connecticut also signed a total ban in his state.
* Mitt Romney Republican Governor of Massachusetts also signed a total ban in his state.
* As well Republican governor Lincoln Almond in Rhodie Island
* The chief sponsors of the Delaware smoking ban were Republicans Reps. Deborah Hudson (Fairthorne) and Robert J. Valihura Jr.(Edenridge)
*It was a Republican Senator Karl Turner (Cumberland) that originally sponsored the ban in Maine
* Republican Beulah Coughenour City Councilman of Indianapolis attempted (but failed) to bring a smoking ban to that city
* In Georgia in 2004, The Republican controlled house tried to pass a smoking ban (They were stopped by the Democrat controlled senate!!!!!!!)
* Senator Bill Mims ( R-Loudoun) in Virginia, Sponsered a bill
*Republican Governors Guinn, Kempthorne, Pataki, Perry, Rowland, Taft and Probably a few others I can't think of right now all have recently raised taxes on cigarettes
*Republican Senators Judd and Hatch right now are working on stopping people from buying cigarettes over the Internet and getting congress to regulate (i.e. Ban) tobacco.
*John Ashcroft a Republican appointee via the justice system is continuing where Janet Reno left off and suing the tobacco companies.
The only Republican that you can say is remotely standing up for smokers is Arnold Schwarzenegger
OH, BTW As well as in Ga there were smoking bans killed in NJ, MD, and VT, All by Democrat controlled legislators
Rush said probably ten years ago that they will go after smoking in public places and private cars.
I wonder how many of them, if they read this thread, would sit back, contentedly, and assume you meant Georgia. I'm beginning to think that common sense is not a prerequisite to being a member of the Virginia Assembly.
BTW...Recently there was a thread regarding a proposal in the GA on motorists speeding. By any chance have you bookmarked it?
This NYer just fired off an infuriated letter to one of the (RINO) sponsors.
Regards,
*John Ashcroft a Republican appointee via the justice system is continuing where Janet Reno left off and suing the tobacco companies.
After being named AG appointee by, then, president-elect Bush, Ashcroft stated he would not persue the suit started by Reno.........congress then passed a law making the suit a line item in the budget, which Clinton promptly signed, thus tying Ashcrofts hands.
While he doesn't get a complete pass - he does deserve to be cut a little bit of slack.
Thanks for the pings..........I spent the better paqrt of yesterday afternoon and evening stirring up the Eastern Shore.
There are a number of unhappy folks over here --- including the proprietors of places that are already smoke-free.
Let me look for that thread. I think I was pinged to it.
I think this is the thread you were asking about.

I think the WSJ said that he was getting so much flack over the Patriot Act and numerous other things that it might have been too much to expect him to do much here.
As an aside, as I recall, Reno told Clinton she didn't want to start that suit in the first place because she thought it was meritless, but he insisted.
If I recall correctly - You're right.
The Second amendment was written for this precise reason.
The ban is dead! Just heard on WRVA.
In this non-smoker's opinion, Excellent!
I don't smoke either but I think it is a stupid law.
Gabz - smoke 'em if you got 'em! :)
Ashcroft's still a RINO, imho...MUD
