I see the democratic party being reduced to the 3rd party state, fighting for votes against Nader

Until the New Deal generation (and perhaps the 1960s JFK-adulation generation) has gone to Heaven, the Democratic Party will continue to exist.

However, if the Dems refuse to change, there is a good chance a new organization will form as people see how inherently bankrupt the Democratic Party really is.

I'd say she nailed the Democrats just about perfectly. That Boxer attacked Rice but then played victim when Rice responded with dignity and class is amazing. But then Margaret Carlson thought that anyone attacking Boxer was sexist. It just can't get any more strange.

Bottom line: Dem's are using calcutated move(s) to raise funds. THIS type of behaviour is only appreciated by the Dr. Demento (Vermont-Gov) wing of the Party. And therefore the funds will only come from that rabid, mad-dog leftist fringe of their Party. They're betting 2+ years from now when it counts, all the sophomoric behavior from 2004-5 will be forgotten news.

"We have only one major paper in this state...they give Bayh prety positive coverage.

It is the absolutely most frustrating situation and I have no idea how to stop it. Bayh won here by an even wider margin than the President, even though we elected a Republican governor as well."

This could have been written by any South Dakota blogger before the 2004 election. One newspaper dominating the state (Argus-Leader,) radio and television portrayals of Daschle as the aw, shucks local boy fighting the "big guys" in Washington.

Jon Luak's blog, DaschlevsThune.com, waged a small, steady war against the massive media silence about the real Tom Daschle. Luak's blog is now part of Southdakotapolitics.com. Other blogs that form The Northern Alliance were diligent in getting the truth out to South Dakota voters.

In a late night attempt by the Daschle campaign to control the treasure chest of Indian reservation "last minute" votes
bloggers stayed in the courtroom during the hearing before a Daschle sponsored judge, a real Daschle vs. Thune lawsuit filed by Daschle to deny Republican poll workers the right to be at polls on Indian reservations, and they reported in real time what went on in the courtroom, to the chagrin of the judge, and to the disgust of voters who finally rebelled.

Until Jon Luak"s book about how a handful of bloggers derailed a Senate leaders re- election, those interested in going around the dominant media in their state to get more information to the voters, would do well to read the archives of the bloggers who helped defeat Daschle.

Southdakotapolitics.com. HughHewitt.com lists other great regional bloggers who also report on national news. Captainsquarters.com, and, of course, powerlineblog.com.
Best writing, most thoroughly documented news stories anywhere.

If there is a Midwest Alliance of bloggers it will be on Hugh Hewitt.com. Find blogs in your state and help them by chronicling Bayh's statements and actions. Pictures and social columns mentioning Bayh.

The mainstream media maintained its power by not reporting to the people in the individual states what they determined the people should not know.

South Dakota bloggers reported what the msm left out. It was hard for the Daschle campaign to keep up the lie that Daschle was a simple, country boy, just like his constituents, when billboards and radio ads asked Sodaks, "Do you want to see a picture of Daschle's mansion? Go to southdakotapolitics.com." Daschles million dollar mansion with his second wife's Jaguar auto parked in the drive dispelled the myth.

Good luck, Miss Marple. b.

Condi hearing....the Washington Times ran across the top of page one pictures of Democrats Boxer, Byrd, Kerry, Kennedy, and the 9 others who voted against confirming Rice.

"What was wrong with this string of pictures? It was made up of 12 hacks, has-beens, never-weres, and certified losers"

Bout sums up the party.

"That Karl Rove is a crafty one-no?"
According to a recent movie promotion:

From the dark recesses of the unconscious mind the Bogeyman cometh, to haunt us in our nighmares and horror stories wearing a thousand distorted faces. He is the diabolical stranger, prowling the night in the guise of our deepest fear. There is no hiding from the Bogeyman.

He's the imaginary enemy, the dread ringmaster of the circus of horrors. He's the escaped, ax-wielding madman of urban legends, the stalker of naughty children, the hoary archetype of evil who predates even the Devil.

But, according to the DUmmies, he ain't s**t compared to Karl Rove.

Dean's ascension to the chairmanship of the Democrat Party, is like tossing them an anchor. He will energize the base, and organize, make more efficient, their concerted efforts to dig their way to China. Go Howard! Yeahhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaa!

A very poignant piece.

I especially enjoyed her spot-on analysis of the dilemma faced by Dem. pols like Evan Bayh.

This is a man who is operating under the delusions that LBJ never bowed out of the 1964 Democratic primary, that the radical doves never seized control of the party apparatus, and that moderate, Trumanesque candidates still have an opportunity to be nominated as the Democrat's choice for president.

He did not gain a single vote among the rabid, frothing, anti-Bush peacenik wing of his party by voting against Rice.

However, he did lose a significant number of Republicans who might have looked with favor upon a prospective Bayh candidacy.

The war on drugs is a failure much like alcohol prohibition was. Whatever someone puts in there own body is of your concern unless the violate your rights and safety. Driving a car for example.

They can not back away from their empty ideology. They believe that what has worked in the past ( playing the class-warfare card ) will bring them back. 9/11 changed that and they are clueless.

That would only be true if we taxpayers would not have to foot the bill for court costs, rehab costs, health costs etc.

It is a known fact that drugs / alcohol lead to a relaxed state of defense, thus leading to promiscuity. As a father of young girls, I don't want you pushing your dope on them, or your booze. Keep it to yourself. There is ONLY one reason why you or anyone else would want to get my daughters high or drunk. They know better, but they don't need the pressure of some hippie or Snoop Dog wannabe pushing dope on them in a "try it you might like it fashion".

I have no problem with a person going off into the woods into a cabin, with no phone and no way for him to harm the world doing as much drugs as he / she wants.

But, when they have children who could pay the price, when they drive and endanger others, when they rob people to support an addiction, then I have problems.

Just like homosexuality, if its your thing, go for it, just don't push it on my kids, don't make it legal, don't celebrate it. Keep it to yourself and make sure that me as a citizen doesn't have to pay (in money or other ways) to support YOUR chosen lifestyle.

I also have a right to NOT want my kids exposed to it. You see, that is where many people go wrong. Of course THEY have a right to live whatever lifestyle they wish, but I ALSO have a right to raise my family FREE from that influence.

That freedom of mine, trumps your own personal freedoms. The betterment of society trumps your own personal freedom to be destructive.

Do not justify your bad action by pointing to another bad action. Thats what liberals do, and it just further spreads bad actions, all justified, with a "because someone else is doing something destructive, so why can't I" attitude.

Don't assume because someone is against the war on drugs, they are junkies. I don't and never have taken drugs or smoked for that matter. It makes you look stupid. I believe in personal freedom as well as economic freedom. Your freedoms are no more important that mine. Where the hell did you learn that? The government shouldn't be involved health care anyway. No people shouldn't sell drugs, beer or tobacco to kids I agree. I wasn't saying that. What people do with their own lives shouldn't concern you unless in violates your rights. That's called freedom.
