SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - Tough talking radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger's 19-year-old son will join the U.S. Special Forces later this year - an endeavor that could take him to the Middle East.

Schlessinger, famous for doling out conservative advice on her nationally syndicated call-in show, told about 300 people at a 425th Civil Affairs Battalion event on Saturday that she wasn't too worried about her son, Deryk Bishop.

Dr. Laura berates those who are psychologically weak AND asking her for help. Dr. Ann berates those who are psychologically weak AND are communist quislings.

I love Dr. Laura! People that don't like the truth always hate her. She tells it like it is. Have the guts to take my advice or shut up and continue with your problem is her moto.

Count me as a fan of Dr. Laura. She is mostly Right about things, a good conservative. Sure, sometimes she can be a bit much. In our local market, she was replace by Glenn Beck, and I can't say I miss her too badly, Glenn is a gem :)

"I'm sure she is a fine person. Sounds like she raised a great son. But hearing her berate the poor, confused souls that call her is unbearable."

Nobody like to hear one failures exposed especially if one shares a particular failure.

She provide a tremendous service to anyone who didn't get that upbringing they deserved.

Agreed. I just can't listen, and therefore I don't.

But I find it interesting that you've posted to this Dr. Laura thread 7 times.

How time flies. I remember hearing her tell a story when he was 10 about some school project he was doing and here he is, all grown up.

People call her to be berated, you don't understand that? Society doesn't do it anymore, but in their hearts they know what they are doing is wrong. They call her to be scolded, they want to somebody to tell them the truth.

I've never seen a more apropos, and more deserved, screen name for a poster than yours.

May Dr. Laura's son kill the terrorists until Hell freezes over, and then go fight them on ice.

Her son is doing something which sadly should not be extraordinary but is, in this day and age.

Sad to sad it's true.

You may not like her but she is about the only radio host advice type show giving mostly coservative advice on the radio, say no to sex before marriage, women shouldn't bash their husbands, men should take responsibly for their actions, support the military, there is right and wrong, etc...mainly "old fashioned" conservative values.

Her book on "Care and Feeding of Husbands" is hated by the left and NOW gang, because it tells women to honor and respect their husbands, treat them right and they will do anything for their wives. (which I agree with)

She's super rich and her son could do about anything he wanted to but she raised him in a way that made him want to join the miliaty.

I'm darn glad she is on the radio and I wish there was more like her.

The rest of the radio advice shows recite pychobabble, tolerance, diversity, inclusion, political correctness, etc.

Although I can't take a daily diet of any radio advice when I do I'll take Dr. Laura any time.

Yo got that right. 3 week pre-selection course/3 week selection course. If they select you, then you have 2 years of multiple schools to fail at before you actually "Join" special forces. What a joke.
