Union: We demand more pay!
Store Owner: I can't afford to pay you more!
Union: We'll go on strike!
Store Owner: I quit!
Union: Hey...you can't do that...we'll all be out of a job.
Store Owner: Seeya!

Beautiful. I love happy endings. Always look for the union label -- "Unemployed."

Now there's a model for others to follow. I think Walmart has done this before. Good for Walmart.

BTW as nearly as I can tell, the steel workers in Pueblo CO are still on strike. They went on strike in the early 90's, 50 cents apart at negotiations. Steel company hired scabs, a year later went non-union (not sure how that all happend) hired the scabs permanantly and offerd to hire the strikers too. A lot insisted thy'd win in court against the comapny and refused to work. On strike now for at least 10 years.

THOSE GUYS are darwin award prospects.

Way to go Wal-Mart!!!

Don't let the unions get in the door! It would be the death nail for Wal-Mart.

Stand up to them. I'm going shopping at Wal-Mart right now and buy something I don't even need.

Parasitic unions do not learn. If the workers want to unionize, the company can say we close our doors. One unionized store is the bad apple Wal-Mart doesn't need.

GOOD!!!

I'd close any business that I owned rather than unionnize too. I believe in paying someone precisely what they are worth to me. No more, no less, and no one else is going to dictate that to me.

I happen to like Wal-Mart... I live in a small tourist based town, where if you wanted anything other than rubber tomahawks, pseudo-art, booze and basic groceries, you had to drive 75 miles or more to get it. Wal-Mart came in and made life simpler and less expensive for me.

That said, I DO wish Wal-Mart would go back to the "Buy American First" as they were in Sam Walton's day..... I wouldn't mind paying a little more for more American made products.....(Assuming there ARE any american made consumer products anymore)

Fantastic! I hope they close all the stores in Quebec. Unions suck the meager margins out of companies like Wal-Mart. Let them go shop at Crappy Tire, the Bay or Towers.
