People shouldn't have to put their lives at risk just so you can eat pizza.

If you aren't willing to clean your neighborhood up and you want pizza that bad you can get off your fat arse and go pick it up.

Let the drivers carry guns. That'll make the thugs in the bad neighborhoods think twice.

It will be interesting to see Freeper responses on this one. I am all for the pizza chains deciding when and where they deliver.

I live way out in the boonies. Do I get to whine (and maybe sue) because I can't get pizza delivery?

Just charge a $100 dollar fee per delivery for security gaurds and start delivering in a Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

Managers from Domino’s and Papa John’s said they don’t deliver to certain areas of the city out of concern for their drivers’ safety.

** maybe this is why?

Businesses have a right to not serve whomever they choose. The also have the responsibility to protect their drivers! It's not the pizza joints fault that certain areas attract unsavory types!!

Don't get POed at the pizza folks...look around you and get POed at THOSE folks because they brought it on themselves!!

Baker said Whether it’s intended or not, it results in socioeconomic and racial discrimination

I think his statement reeks of racial arson. He seems to be making a bold assumption that all of the residents are of a particular race (I doubt it) and that the place is as safe as the rest of the city to deliver to (I doubt it) and that the delivery people have relatively the same incidence of getting stiffed for the tip or taking a stiff tip of a knife. He's the racist, not the business people.

almost all restaurants have the right to refuse service so why shouldn't pizza delivery places have a right to choose their delivery zones--maybe that address was outside of normal delivery routes and then it could be a "combat"zone for drivers. This is about a business's right to run their business as they see fit.If this was the only pizza they could get then why didn't they drive and pick it up???

For point of reference, the pizza places are NOT refusing to sell pizzas to those customers, they are only refusing to deliver. Delivery is an extra service they are not obligated to perform.

The pizza places should stop delivering altogether and then the Righteous Activists can show everybody how it's done.

I delivered pizza when I was in high school and in college.

There were places to which we would not deliver.

We would meet people a short distance away in a well lighted place if they wanted to do that instead.

Being a pizza delivery person is statistically significantly more dangerous than being a police officer. A higher percentage of pizza delivers are killed on the job than police officers.

It would seem that if these ghetto idiots want pizza and no one will deliver it tothem that there is a business opportunity for one of them to make some money.

Well, whatever you do NAACP, don't consider the possibility that your "community" may actually have a problem with violent crime. It is so much easier to blame "discrimination" than to actually try to do something about crime-ridden neighborhoods.

Yeah we should deliver pizza to you - even though FBI crime statistics show that most racial crimes are committed against whites by either blacks or hispanics - it is not the other way around. Blacks need to start taking responsibility for their behavior and problems in their community - America is tired of hearing the same old race baiting crap.

I had a friend's brother deliver a pizza to a ghetto in COlorado Springs, only to be tied up, stuffed in his trunk, and almost murdered. He was lucky in that the cops got to the bad guys driving his car before they killed him.

I delivered Pizza's for years, we had redlined areas we would not deliver to... usually this happened after 1 or more armed robberies in the area of drivers... and if a driver from any pizza shop was killed in a robbery the area was redlined and no more deliveries at all by any shops in the area.

Don't blame the Pizza shops for being rational.

Two pizza delivery chains refused to send drivers to a public housing community

If they have to live in public housing why are they ordering pizza for delivery ? Is there some kind of $$ disconnect here ?

People can come and pick up their pizza. I don't see a problem here.
