Re: I'm happy to announce that effective at midnight tonight, eBay.com and eBay.ca will reduce minimum insertion fees for Auction-Style listings, Fixed Price, Motors Non-Vehicle and B&I non-Capital Equipment Categories from 30 cents to 25 cents (CA$0.35 to CA$0.30).

This was a load of horse hockey! I listed on that day and the listing fees stayed the same. They have not changed at all... More hot air from eBay.

Granted, eBay does have a huge traffic...

But slowly, I am moving my auctions to BidVille and Gun Brokers to see if I can make a living without wasting money on eBay's ever rising fees.

If any of you also sell or buy on eBay, consider changing over to Gun Brokers and BidVille to give eBay the willies as their seller & buying base falls.

Ebay does really hit the sellers with more fees than there are stars in the universe - so it seems. It tends to discourage the sale of anything much under 10-12 dollars, except from real newbies who end up paying someone, basically, to buy it that cheaply. Plus there are the rumors about paypal that are frightening, that if a seller's paypal balance/account reaches a certain amount, or he tries to transfer a certain amount, paypal just steals his money on the pretext of some 'irregularity', and the 'investigation' never concludes. They just steal it. I hope that's not true. But the things you read. I don't have much respect for their 'complaint resolution', nor that of ebay. It DOES seem as if they give lip service to that and otherwise assign no one. With that kind of mistrust and suspicion, it's a wonder they continue to shine with the business that they do. You can, after all, find some really great items on ebay. There's no question.

I think there ought to be a Free Republic Auction site (Free-Bay?). Profits go to where ever Free Republic deems best....back to this site...or to worthy causes. :-)

eBay has long been a problem ...

All kidding aside, like so many other innovative online ventures, eBay really has evolved into a less than fun place for both buyers and sellers.
