Having sexual relations with other people is not something that parents are obligataed to fund.

It's not about ideas, it's about behaviour.

>Thats not the same!

I didn't know that at the time. I went to my mom with the "I'm a lesbian" speech. I thought at the time, I slept with a woman, I must be a lesbian. Nope, been married for 10 years now to a MAN. Wouldn't be with another woman.

If every conservative parent refused to pay for a college education for their liberal children, there would be a lot less LIBERAL kids in universities.

There....I fixed it.

The Chaneys are wrong! They didn't have the guts as Keyes! It was sanctioning the gay life style even though they hated it.

if he is withholding support he would normally give on the basis of his daughter's sexuality then he is a small and petty man who deserves his political misfortunes.

...

And for those of you who intend to flame me, I under no condition support gay marriage or civil unions or whatever you want to call it, nor do I support any element of the homosexual agenda and I don't have any gay friends. Further, I doubt anyone can review my posts on this board and question my conservatism.

Don't kid yourself. You are a shining example of the success of the homosexual campaign to desensitize the public to their natural repugnance for homosexuality.

According to the tenets of Keyes' religious tradition, his daughter is now actively promoting behaviour that is abominable by definition.

Call him petty if you like, but his principles have a much more firmly established pedigree than yours.

Do you have any evidence that the Cheneys hate the gay life style?

Of course, the current activist mantra would say that you're "overcome with self-loathing" and "in denial", since you MUST have been gay and it CAN'T be reversed. But then again, they gotta keep their numbers up...

I guess some Freepers put their politics over their childrens' wellbeing. I'm not one of them.

Maya Keyes loves her father and mother.

By using her name and abusing his fame to speak at GAY rallies? Funny way of showing love.

Parents don't owe their children a college education. They all look at it differently. Some have no choice; they simply cannot afford it. That was my parents. They love me. I love them. End of story. For those who can afford and choose to put conditions on it, or who think they child will grow more by having to work his/her way through school, they probably have good intentions whether the rest of us agree with them or not.

It may be snobbish but it's a fact. Her career prospects are MUCH brighter coming from Brown than from a Junior College.

How does paying for tuition equal funding her sexual relations with other women?

Nope, it's just clear that she's bisexual.

I find your defending the indefensible embarrassing and shameful.

Your ignorance is what's embarrassing and shameful. Maya Keyes is obviously having a tough time right now. For her life to be examined and picked apart on this board by a bunch of holier than thou tight arses is probably the last thing she needs. And you people have way too much time on your hands.

"Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man. And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me".

Apparently for all the bible thumping that goes around on this board the quote about judging others seems to be left out. Perhaps, it isn't the Evangelical editions? The Cheneys don't seem to be entirely comfortable with their daughter's lesbianism. But they treat her with dignity and respect.

I have not nor will I defend homosexuality. Nonetheless, the idea that Alan Keyes would "disown" his daughter based on her sexuality is an anthema to not only christian teaching but sane behavoir as well.

Parents don't owe their children a college education.

If they can afford it, they do. If the kid wastes the opportunity and drops out or gets kicked out, that's something the kid will have to deal with.

If you have something to say, but can't do it without characterizing other's opinions, then I think you have nothing of value to add.
