Call him petty if you like, but his principles have a much more firmly established pedigree than yours.

My first principle (and I don't have kids) would be to love my daughter and treat her with dignity and respect, not disown her.

Maybe it's a question of priorities, not principles?

" It's not terribly abnormal."

Oh come on... human beings are a sexually reproducing species that produces offspring with the longest period of immaturity in nature. Humans don't have alternate reproductive strategies. The human society that disregards the fundamental truths of our species will be the next Darwin award winner and western societies with their emphasis on separating sexuality from reproduction are stepping up to that plate.

Right now the family is under duress in Western civilization. There are a number of destructive behaviors that can put us in the dust bin of history. Homosexuality with it's emphasis of being an alternate kind of family would redefine the family out of existence.

You can bet that if she turns back we will have to dig to hear about it (unfortunately). Consider how the media ignores Norma McCorvey ("Roe") and Bernard Nathanson (co-founder of NARAL) now that they have converted to the pro-life cause.

How does paying for a child's tuition equal endorsement of their homosexual lifestyle?

If that college is the enabling factor to that child's homosexual lifestyle, then it's a BIG endorsement.

The only thing I might have done differently than Keyes (and for all we know, he may have offered this) is to have offered to pay to continue her education at a local Christian institution, and to undergo some sort of pastoral counseling.

But hey, you probably think the Miller employee shouldn't have gotten fired for the photo of him drinking Bud Light, either...

Not sure how I mischarcterized other's opinions but you mischaracterized mine by saying I was defending the indefensible.

Perhaps it is you who has nothing to add?

Parents don't owe their kids a college education at any college they want to go to. If I had a kid with this problem I certainly wouldn't send them to Brown.

Nope, it's just clear that she's bisexual.

Right, which is as good as gay to the activists, since you can never be UN-bisexual either, so THROW 'EM ALL IN TOGETHER!

Of that I have no doubt.

So, you'd be okay sending your gay kid to Penn State but not to Brown? What is the difference, other than cost and the fact that Brown is a much better school?

It's not terribly abnormal.

There's another thread about a new strain of "super" HIV that has been traced to a man in NYC who says he has had anonymous sex with 100s of men in a two week period. He's hardly alone in such promiscuity. Its an essential feature of the gay lifestyle.

Liberals would call that abnormal, compulsive behavior if it were any behavior other than homosexual behavior. The would likely call it abnormal if it were heterosexuals engaging in it anonymously and with that frequency.

Individual homosexual behavior is no threat to me, personally. I couldn't care less who engages in it (unless it were my child). However, acceptance of it at the societal level is a threat, to society and to me and my family by extension.

It is a threat because it sends and reinforces the deadly message that sexual behavior exists primarily if not solely for its entertainment value, not for replacing an aging population with a young and healthy new generation.

I have a vested interest in society's maintaining and encouraging healthy traditional families, for those families are the indispensable crucibles in which children are born, nurtured, and reared to adulthood, tomorrow's citizens who will keep this nation great and free.

Before you leap to proclaim your disagreement, tell me which nation, if any, that has legalized gay marriage has a birth rate sufficient to replace its dying population. Don't waste too much time looking. There isn't one.

The mindset that tolerates and encourages homosexual behavior is inherently anti-family and anti-child. It is the same mindset that preaches abortion without restrictions. And just about everybody knows where Alan Keyes stands on that point.

Which is a big reason he is hated so much.

>Nope, been married for 10 years now to a MAN.
>Of course, the current activist mantra would say that >you're "overcome with self-loathing" and "in denial", >since you MUST have been gay and it CAN'T be reversed. But >then again, they gotta keep their numbers up...

LOL!! This is true. Shame though, because there alot of people who do experiment and then feel TRAPPED in the homosexual lifestyle because of the mantra you just listed. It's like they have to CONVINCE them that they really are gay, just because two girls tried something at a frat party. Sad.

According to whose standards?

If that college is the enabling factor to that child's homosexual lifestyle, then it's a BIG endorsement.

The enabling factor to her lifestyle is the fact that she enjoys having sex with other women. It doesn't matter what college she goes to, she'll still keep doing that.

But hey, you probably think the Miller employee shouldn't have gotten fired for the photo of him drinking Bud Light, either...

Talk about a non-sequitur.

Frankly, I consider that the really sane thing to do. Much the same as having to kick out a drug-addicted child.

"Modernman" in a gay tolerant society is on the path to becoming "extinctman."

You mistake correlation for causation, of course. Legalized gay marriage (which I generally oppose, BTW) does not change society's values when it comes to marriage, reproduction etc. It reflects those values.

I disagree. Someone as otherwise liberal as you surprises me when you say that parents should have no choice in the matter.

As expensive as college is these days, very few people can really "afford" it anyway. Personally, I will absolutely make every sacrifice in that area for my child. But not because I owe it to him, or because I love him more than other people love their kids. I home school too, for similar reasons.

You know though, I cannot say that my financial support for his college years will be unqualified. What is in life? With the money will come responsibilities.

How do you know that? Are you Maya Keyes?
