" Plus she is a SLAVE, or didn't that occur to you?"
She was a slave before her father sold her. All Muslim women and girls are slaves.
Maaaaayyyybbbeeee because the rags are still at the center of slavery today. They have been at the center of it for centuries.
It also depends on how the laws require this child-wife to be treated. I understand the Koran places specific requirements on how well a husband must treat his wife. If that's true (and I haven't read it myself) she may be getting a good deal. In this country we think marriage for love (and divorce for more sex) is a good way to create families. Not every culture agrees.
Shalom.
Any comments regarding human rights violations here? I didn't think so."
This is sickening. Anyone who refuses to admit that our Western Judeo-Christian culture is superior to others is obviously ignorant of the facts of life in many other countries.
No, Raycpa does NOT have a very good point.
When you start down this road of tolerance because of necessity for survival you open the door for any extreme, and the children are always the victims of those extremes.
In Nigeria, the beggar families use this same justification to tie the arms and/or legs up behind the baby's head while the bones are pliable and let the bones harden in that position so that the child will be completely helpless, then sit them on the street to attract sympathy and money from passers-by.
The beggar family would say that this is necessary to keep the whole family from starving.
It's a cop-out.
There are worse things than death, even death by starvation.
We can never allow ourselves to accept these abuses on the children because "we don't understand the culture".
It has nothing to do with culture. It has to do with basic human compassion for the children.
We must view these practices from the cult of death in the same way as we view the beheadings and the senseless slaughter of innocents - with disgust, revulsion and anger.
They have no place in the modern world.
America needs an excorcist to deal with that lot!
So right you are, Tex. And this vile garbage does not go on in Is-slime-sick lands because of desperation, but because women are considered less than dirt to them.
It's just more Koranitrash amorality.
Discussing abject slavery is of course ignoring a lot of supposed civilized countries where the entire population are the slaves of the ruling elite like China or Cuba.
No, I'm afraid that slavery and tyranny are universal and not just symptom of Islam.
Good post!
When my minister was living in Egypt, he was offered a thousand (yes, 1000) camels for his then-12-year-old daughter. I know that sounds like a joke, but he and his wife both swear that it's true.
What is your solution ? Starvation or maybe prostitution ?
Okie dokie. Lets have the Marines shoot both fathers and move the children to California. Then I can hear all the immigrant haters howl about our taxes.
When our daughter was 12, my wife and I would have considered the offer.
America cannot solve the problems of the world, but we DO NOT have to condone them because their culture is beyond our comprehension.
When I passed the little kids on the streets of Lagos, I accepted it because there was not a damn thing I could to about it, but I sure didn't like it or excuse it!
OMG, Henry. How can things like this happen? That's so pitiful I could cry.
Ain't that the truth! To that disgrace to the South, it is only human rights violations if the US, Israel, or a pro-US country does it. Otherwise, he could care less.
In most agricultural societies, a key function of the family is to provide children. Note that the father of the prospective husband of this little girl states that his son's first wife has not born him children. You are kidding yourself if you think that marriage will not lead to sexual relations in this case.
